Great location and staff

Posted 24-Oct-2016
Pros: Staff and lication
Staff were incredibly helpful and kind. Hotel location was great. Bar was expensive like most hotels but lacked atmosphere. Grill and cafe very good. Could not fault the staff they really were very sweet, especially as we had a baby and we needed some help.

18th century delight.

Location: A stone's throw from the Cathedral, surrounded by medieval and Georgian property.
The 'Cathedral Lounge' is one of the most beautiful rooms I have ever sat in.

Old maybe, but tired? Nope!!!

Pros: The staff!!! The location and the cleanliness / room comforts.
Cons: Not realistically. If you want modern look elsewhere.
Location: Great location: history, shopping, dining, entertainment and easy walking to everything.
My fiance and I visited Exeter for a nice romantic weekend and found the location and staff to both be excellent. The room was extremely comfortable, clean, very well appointed and all the facilities were top notch. The check-in and check-out process was great, even if the lobby is pretty small / cramped, and the staff were very helpful indeed throughout our stay. While there are (inevitably) some idiosyncracies with a property of this age and history - the stairs / elevator, lack of parking and cramped corridors for example - these have to be expected and the views and location more than make up for these in our opinion. Would we go back? ABSOLUTELY!!! We had a wonderful stay.

Fabulous location in city centre

Posted 03-Sep-2016
Pros: The fabulous service , staff presence and demeanour .
Cons: The bed and lumpy pillows.
Location: Great shopping, restaurants, water sports on the river, cycling and walking.
The staff at the hotel couldn't have been more helpful, welcoming and went out of their way to help us. Great room, decor and ambiance were perfect. The only downside for me on a comfort level, was the bed itself. The mattress was very soft and sloped into the middle and the pillows were terrible and lumpy. This said our visit was not spoiled by this matter.

Oldest hotel in Exeter and England!

Posted 14-Aug-2016
Pros: View of cathedral, walking distance to local restaurants, cafes, etc.
Cons: Hotel can use a lick of paint here and there but other than very small cosmetic appearances lovely place to stay in Exeter!
Location: Catherdral across the green, close to Royal Albert Museum and other buildings and historical sites to see.
For the oldest hotel in England (according to their local history it was founded in 1747 as a hotel for weary guests travelling through) it is a lovely hotel right in the green with a view of the famous cathedral. Nice hotel with excellent staff and customer service.

Perfect hotel to stop for one night on our way to Cornwall. Plenty of parking nearby even though there is no parking at the hotel. Room was small but immaculately clean and overlooked the cathedral. Enough room for a bed for our 6 year old. Staff were helpful and even stored our pedal cycles overnight rather than leaving them on the car.
