Gone downhill

Posted 19-Sep-2016
Pros: In a lovely village
Cons: TLC
Location: Lovely part of the world
We have stayed here several times in the last few years. It was always simple but clean and pleasant. This time, there was no-one there when we arrived. The room smelt and felt damp. The windowless bathroom didn't have any useful ventilation. The towels were worn out. Something in the breakfast made one of us ill. Not a great experience I am afraid.

Nice Country Inn

Nice family-feel Little Country Hotel. Small but cosy room. Small but comfortable beds. Good Shower pressure. People are friendly and helpful. Better if the spider at the corner is removed.

Quiet hotel in a small village

Posted 14-Aug-2015
Pros: The food and the atmosphere in the bar
Cons: Sink plug in White Horse room!
Location: Go to see the Westbury White Horse. Avebury is lovely. Laycock is great if you get there before the crowds! Caen locks are great
Lovely staff especially chef Paul, very hard working man but with time to help with advice for places to visit. Room was comfortable, the bathroom a little tired (lime scale in toilet bowl and plug in sink not working properly) but very clean. Tea and coffee tray provided in room. Very peaceful considering rooms are part of the pub building, slept like a log. Food outstanding with excellent breakfast and specials for evening meals, couldn't fault. Regulars are friendly and atmosphere great in bar. Be aware no food available on Sunday evenings as pub closed in common with most surrounding. We arrived Sunday evening and went back into Devizes to find a meal which was simple enough, and after tasting the food at The Bell on Monday, that's where we stuck to for food, amazing. Thank you all for a brilliant stay.
