Perfect central location.

Posted 31-Jan-2016
Pros: See Above
Cons: There seemed a reluctance to man the hotel bar after mid night meaning long waits for service
I was in Derby for a football match and found the hotel easily even though it was in the city centre. You could not get a more central location for experiencing Derby before and after the game. The ground is a 10 minute walk from the hotel, exactly as the hotel staff informed me. The private car park saves you a fortune in parking fees and is located perfectly for access. I was really impressed with the cleanliness and layout of the hotel. The room was spotless, spacious, and very very comfortable. Breakfast was excellent with fresh replacements regularly. Check in/out was painless. Would not stay anywhere else when next in Derby

Helpful staff

The ladies on reception were really nice and helpful. We rang for a later check out time and they were more than happy to allow this. The room was lovely and warm and really clean. Really good value for money.

A very pleasant one night stay

Posted 11-Nov-2015 on Hotels
I stayed here for one night on a business trip. The hotel is perfectly situated beside Derby bus station, making it perfect for people travelling. On arrival, the hotel was clean, bright and welcoming. The receptionist was extremely helpful. The bedroom was traditional with a modern twist, beautiful high ceilings, excellent facilities. Breakfast was delicious, it was well set up and staff were very helpful. Overall, I really enjoyed my stay here and would highly recommend

Shame on the service

Posted 09-Nov-2015 on Hotels
quality of hotel is great with clean and modern rooms. Its in the service and extra's that the hotel fails. I got the impression from staying in this hotel once and then a whole week that the staff have to follow strict rules and procedures and to do something different or go one step more for there customers would get them into trouble (no person touch) this was apparnet in the reception staff unable to smile the restaurant staff sticking to the 6 o'clock dinner starts rule, even at 3 mins early i was not allowed ot sit in the restaurant. The wifi is not consistent stayed in one room and got speeds over 20mbps and stayed in another room and got speeds of 0.28 mbps. There is however a older lady who works on the breakfast shift who is outstanding under loads of pressure doesn't get it wrong and is polite and understanding building relationships with her customers.

Tiny double room

Posted 30-Oct-2015
First the car park was difficult to find. The'double room was in fact a three quarter and tiny with bed pushed up against the wall. There were cobwebs from the table lamp up the wall.

Would stay again, but room for improvement

Posted 28-Oct-2015 on Hotels
Well priced, good parking, easy access to the train station. Drunken football fans shouting while walking past the hotel on Saturday night. I extended our stay by one night and asked reception to keep us in the same room. This was forgotten and our luggage was about to be put into storage when I happened to come back into the room early afternoon. I was given a discount on the 2nd night's stay for this. The bed was very large, they use thin blankets instead of duvets.

Not great

Posted 27-Oct-2015 on Hotels
I was shocked that this hotel is 4* considering the service is quite poor. The room was large but very dated the tv was very difficult to see and had barely any channels but the bathroom was very nice. We were accused twice from room service that we were smoking in the room which was not the case at all we had just been outside to smoke which obviously left the smell on us and we weren't even asked nicely or any apology after. Room service tray charge is £5 which seems a lot for the state of this hotel considering Hilton tray charge is the same and much higher standard of hotel. Overall we would not stay here again but it is decent for if you are travelling by train as it is opposite the station. Also the pictures are deceiving as we booked this based on the lovely garden pictures but when we arrived it's just a small area of grass.
