Too big! Lacking in that personal touch.

Posted 06-Sep-2017
Pros: The rooms are clean, comfortable and have all the amenities that you would expect to get from Marriott.
Cons: Maybe a bar area designated for those who want a quiet drink of an evening?
Location: Near to the Peak District, our trip to Bakewell was great and the transport links are excellent.
The rooms are lovely and well kept, although the bathroom extractor fan was inadequate and the mirror was always steamed up, a little bit frustrating when you are trying to shave. The hotel is a vast complex and clearly a commercial asset in the Marriott chain. Subsequently, it loses that intimacy that most hotels have with its guests. The walk from reception to our room was over five minutes, if you could find your way through the rabbit warren of corridors. I'd say great for staying if you live in the corporate world and don't mind delivery with efficiency, but avoid it if you want anything more intimate. On our visit to the bar was very rowdy, lots of testosterone and bravado from the golfers.

Nice hotel, in lovely grounds, great facilities. Food good. Front office staff very nice. The attached golf course can make it a bit busy at times. Gym/pool staff a tad grumpy!

Lovely venue for a special family birthday

Posted 30-Aug-2017
Pros: The grounds, gardens, golf course and swimming pool were fantastic.
Cons: The beds were a little hard and the pillows a little thin while the service in the Tempo Bar was a little slow (and prices quite high!).
We spent a lovely bank holiday weekend at Breadsall Priory to celebrate a milestone family birthday. We had help in advance from the Guest Relations Executive who helped organise rooms, gifts, special menus etc while the younger members of the family loved the gardens and the swimming pool so everyone was happy. The beds may have been on the slightly hard side for my liking and the service sometimes a little slow in the casual bar restaurant but it didn't detract from a lovely weekend.

Lovely hotel in beautiful surroundings

Posted 26-Jun-2017
Upon arrival we was greeted by front house staff who said we had been upgrade to a junior suite. We stayed over night for our 1st wedding anniversary. They gave me chocolates plus a free complimentary drink each. Evening meal was lovely and breakfast plentiful with a good range of foods. Swimming pool, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna very nice and clean. Lovely hotel within beautiful surroundings.

Lovely hotel, some customer service not great!!

Posted 25-May-2017 on Hotels
A beautiful Hotel in a lovely location. Overall I was very pleased with my stay, the room was amazing with original toilet and shower/bath. There were two 'customer service' issues that did affect my overall opinion of the hotel, otherwise everything esle was wonderful. I went for a wander, and found that there was a bar near the leisure club that you could eat and drink in. I didnt fancy eating in here, (very loud wth groups of golfers enjoying post golf drinks) so asked at reception if there was anywhere else to eat. The response was - 'there is a restaurant downstairs but you have to pre-book! You can go down and check when they are open!' - Firstly if there are spaces available why dont they ask you when you check in, and secondly any other hotel would offer to check for you. Turns out the restaurant was nearly empty and the food was delcicious. The second incident was after I checked out. When I checked out the printer failed, so they managed to check me out and take my payment but couldnt give me a copy. I asked them to email it to me ASAP as I neded to get my expenses in that day. This wasnt the issue. By mid afternoon nothing had arrived so I called the hotel.I was told by a very rude lady that the system had gone down so they were uable to check anyone out, and they were working through checking people out and charging them.Given that I had checked out and paid this was not my issue. I had to call again on the Saturday as still nothing arrived!!
