We had a nice quiet stay in a 5-star facility. I am not sure they were quite on their game because of it being their low season. The service was good but I felt that the employees in general seamed bored because of the lack of people staying at the hotel. We bought 2 fruit cups from the morning coffee bar, neither was fresh, one had been frozen and the other had unseen mold. The room cleaning person did a good job on the room but forgot to replace the empty Kleenex box 2 days in a row. When we brought it to their attention it took an hour to get a replacement. The pay-per-view movie system was also a problem. The 1st movie we watched had a buffering problem on and off throughout the movie. The next day we gave them a second chance and again we had the same problem plus the sound quit half way through. While the hotel credited our bill for the cost it was very irritating. While my complaints are pretty minor, I don't expect any issues at a 5-star hotel and certainly not ones of this nature. I think management is taking a winter nap and should wake up, and restore the usually good attention to detail to summer shape.
This was just for a overnight stay and it was more than satisfactory. Going in, I was fully expecting to pay for parking but was pleasantly surprised to find out it was complimentary. I really didn't see how anything was walking distance (street parking or stores). Didn't notice anything around but work buildings and other hotels. I liked the lamps in the room. There were outlets in both of them on both sides of the bed and a little arm with light for reading. The staff were friendly and was quick to bring a crib for my baby.
I had an overall pleasant stay. The ocean front location was great. Also the easy access to the beach and community park area was a plus. Walking distance to restaurants and stores. Friendly management and clean rooms. Housekeeping stopped every day to tidy up my room. I will return soon.
Our stay was great. It is only a short ride to the Torrey Pines golf course where we went for the Farmers Insurance Open. The staff was extremely accommodating (especially Mario at the front desk). You receive a delicious warm cookie upon arrival (my boyfriend asked for one each time we were in the lobby). Pool view is quite nice. The rooms are quiet and comfortable-- GREAT selection on TV channels. Would definitely stay again.
The room is very spacious, the location is very good, close to the sea and just in the middle of Sea world and Legoland, which is very convenient to access through 5 freeway, very convenient! I will definitely to recommend this hotel to my friends.
Members of old Hollywood once jockeyed for seclusion in Del Mar. Now, real jockeys are the main attraction at this former Tinseltown getaway.
