There are a lot of positives about this hotel: Quality of building & rooms, location, helpful staff, a very good spa, a decent gym, etc. I only have a some very small qualifications to add - the swimming pool is small (about 12m) so not really suitable to swimming lengths. Unfortunately I also had a poor experience in the restaurant - Steak & Lobster. On a previous visit I had eaten the Lobster which was excellent and this time I wanted to try the Steak. Note that the restaurant only serves two main dishes so the marketing is along the lines of 'the choice is limited but we will excel in these two dishes'. I ordered the steak 'medium-rare' which is always my choice. The steak came back very, very rare or what the French call 'Bleu' (they call 'rare' saignant). Having just googled some images of steak cooked 'bleu' I would even say the steak I had was rarer. When it came back the second time part of the steak was still 'bleu'. It was a real shame. I don't understand how the chef can get it so wrong.

The apartment needs some attention; it looks tired and in places dirty! The sitting room and bedroom doors made a very loud squeaking noise when opening and closing; two light bulbs in the bathroom, one in the bedroom and two in the sitting room weren't working. The charger socket in the bathroom didn't work; the shower curtain was dirty - the shower door had been removed and water leaked all around the shower; the bath emptied very slowly so during a shower it filled to about 6 inches deep. The doors to the fridge and freezer had come off their outer cupboard doors so didn't open properly - in fact neither the fridge or freezer came on during our stay.

Location was ideal right in the heart of Deansgate with excellent transport links via tram station which is found behind the hotel. Lots of bars and restaurants in close proximity along with a nice selection of shops. The communal areas were nice enough, however the room interior was rather dated with a number of marks and scratches on the furniture, not what I've come to expect when staying with Hilton.
We didn't sample any of the extras, i.e gym, pool, spa or restaurants, and unfortunately didn't make breakfast due to a few too many glasses of wine the evening before! We did visit cloud 23 bar which is located at the top floor of the hotel with views overlooking the city, it's well worth booking a table in advance as it can get busy, and the cocktails are quite pricey (£12+).

The apartment rental was wonderful and had plenty of space for me and my guests. It's a little difficult to find the address, but it's right next to the Per Tutti Café. The local grocery stores, shopping malls, and transportation spots were nearby and there are plenty of options to eat within walking distance. It was very convenient and a great place to stay. Our main purpose to come here was to watch the football matches so this was a great location in between both of Manchester's football clubs (Old Trafford and Ethiad Stadium).
