Rooms very disappointing.

Posted 17-Aug-2017
Pros: it was down town
Cons: room furniture
Location: In city center lots of things to do.
The main part of the hotel was fine but the rooms were less than expected, for an over night stay not to bad but for a 2 weeks stay not so good, There was a closet with 4 or 5 hangers and a shelf above hard to reach no draws to put shirts etc. So living out of suitcase.

I like the sense of history in the Midland

Posted 17-Aug-2017
I like the Midland. I've been staying here intermittently for years. Sometimes you're lucky with a room, and sometimes less lucky. This time, we were slightly less lucky. The rooms we were allocated were on the top floor, with courtyard views from a dormer window - like being put up in the servants' quarters of a grand old house. The furnishings were good quality and the bed was very comfortable. The bath was midget sized, but at least there was an overhead shower. We woke up in the middle of the night because the aircon was noisy. Having turned the aircon off we noticed how the fridge emitted a high pitched whine. But apart from that, the rooms and corridors are quiet. We had a drink in the bar which offers an amazing selection of gins and accompaniments. I found the check in staff a tad too friendly and eager to please. I rate speed of check-in over chumminess.

upgraded room, Thanks Expedia

Stayed for 3 nights. Great heart of town location. Very comfortable room. Good room service. The only challenge was parking near the hotel. Had to go for valet parking which made things easier.

Great hotel very central

Posted 03-Aug-2017
On arrival we were greeted by a very flamboyant receptionist named Jason. He was very knowledgeable of places of interest to visit in and around Manchester. All staff were very courteous and helpful.

Excellent Hotel in the heart of Manchester

Posted 28-Jul-2017
I have stayed at this hotel a few times and have always been extremely happy with the level of service. On this occasion it was my parents who stayed as part of a gift from the family for their Golden Wedding Anniversary. I stated this on the booking information at the time of booking online. My parents were treated to room upgrade, anniversary card and cake on arrival, a complimentary drinks voucher and a glass of champagne for breakfast. My parents thoroughly enjoyed their stay at The Midland and the little extras went a long way in making their stay a special one to remember.

Appalling for £187 per night no Breakfast.

Posted 24-Jul-2017
No Breakfast included for a £187 per room per night Down right disgusted..... AC did not work had to have Maintenance out twice and still failed to work!! The Spa Pool you had to wait for a time slot and someone to ring you back and no-one did!! I wasted 35 minutes!! Disgusted think we need a refund....

Excellent hotel with style and convenience

Posted 18-Jul-2017
Pros: The staff, Steven, Vilma and Becky, the common areas, piano music and tea service, location and overall atmosphere, comfort of beds and rooms
Location: Perfect location in the city center, walking distance to everything
Beautiful traditional hotel with great common areas to meet and relax, with beautiful and comfortable rooms and very nice and accommodating staff. Steven at the door was truly unbelievable in going above and beyond to help us with numerous things. His follow up was so impressive and we felt like we made a new friend! He is a true asset to the hotel. He even helped us with how to return our rental car and get to the airport. At breakfast, we also had a fantastic experience .Both Vilma and Becky went above and beyond in service, warmth and hospitality. This is the perfect hotel to stay at for atmosphere, amenities and service. Front desk was also wonderful!

Nice hotel great central location but noisy

Posted 07-Jul-2017
Two night stay at the Midland on a Friday and Saturday night, the room was very nice, extremely clean and very comfortable with a nice view over to the Manchester library and great central location, within walking distance to Deansgate, some lovely restaurants and bars and the Arndale centre The Spa is very nice, the pool is small but was adequate and the sauna and steam rooms were lovely, I had a massage which was great and I would highly recommend. As the hotel is beautiful is is very busy for functions, the downside of our stay was room on the second floor appeared to be directly above one of the function rooms, on both Friday and Saturday night functions were held and you could hear every single note of music/DJ comments made and played, we tolerated it the first evening and on the second evening checked with the reception desk what time the function would finish and were informed 1am, at 1:20am there was still a large amount of noise and we had to ring to complain, it did stop almost immediately following the phone call. If I was to return to the hotel I would request a room well away from any of the function rooms as it did disrupt our nights sleep, when we complained at check out they did take off our bar bill which was generous and I am still waiting for a phone call from the hotel about this.

Hotel hosted my friend's wedding reception

Posted 25-Jun-2017
Pros: Good service, clean hotel. Very traditional design with that tradition extending to the service.
Cons: We were happy with everything.
Stayed here overnight. We got here early and our room while not immediately available was available earlier than was stated. The staff we very courteous and helpful throughout the stay. My friends reception was lovely with great food and service at the bar. Our room was spacious and clean. I can't comment on how quiet it is normally as there was a large band playing outside on the Saturday morning but there is nothing the hotel can do about that. The breakfast was very nice and had afternoon tea with a lovely selection of teas and the again the service was second to none. I will be very happy to stay here again.
