We rented this house for a family getaway. It very comfortably accommodated our family of 6 plus 2 sets of grandparents. We loved being close to the beach and having the scenic views of the sound. The only downside was the amount of mosquitoes. Bring lots of bug spray if you plan on spending time outside near the house. The house fit us all very comfortably. The beach was right out the back door! I found more shells and beach glass on our section of beach than I did anywhere else we looked. The beds were comfortable and everything was very clean. The only issues we had were that there were no spices or anything for cooking, not even salt and pepper, but that's not a big deal, just something to be aware of. The bay side was so peaceful and beautiful. It’s had a nice beach and we enjoyed fishing from there. We loved the room to spread out. Was just a short 5 min walk to the ocean side. Which was amazingly beautiful in the mornings for sunrise. The king sized beds were so comfy. The queen wasn’t as nice but still good. The kitchen island was so nice and large and we played lots of cards on the dining table. I would suggest to add a few rugs for comfort and also please take a look at some of the deck boards that need replacing. Also we saw a few ants in the downstairs bathroom. Location was good. House was clean and we had everything we needed. Kitchen could benefit from a few items: scissors, a proper cookie sheet. We had to reconnect the dryer vent, it was venting into the house but it just needs to be re-attached more securely. The windows are probably the main complaint. They need to be replaced. Most have no screens, one had no outer frame and we had to tape the window glass to keep it from falling out, condensation builds up inside many of the windows obscuring the view outside. ##### Anna B. There were no hot pads, kitchen towels, or spices—not even salt and pepper. If you rent, come prepared with all your kitchen basics. If it wasn't for the affordability, we couldn't have taken a vacation this year since everything is sooo expensive. However, this house is a gem. The beds are comfortable, the rooms areba goid size, there is tons of natural light, lots of appliances, plenty of plates and drinkware. We always had hot water. It's truly a beautiful house. There was one maintenance hiccup, but property service had someone on it lickity split and so it didn't disrupt our stay. Being on the bay side was perfect for us as we love paddle boarding, kayaking, and fishing. My brother lives in the area and brought a waverunner, the bay was calm enough to make that a super fun day. This home was a great getaway for the family. There are a few cosmetic things that need attention inside the home and the back deck needs some attention as well. Nothing was bad enough that I wouldn’t stay there again, but will only get worse as time goes on. I would highly suggest bringing some mosquito spray if you plan on spending much time in the yard area during the day or do any crab hunting or fishing at night. We had a great time. This house slept all 7 of us comfortably and the commons areas are spacious and comfortable. Dauphin Island is a fun, laid back, beach experience. The ocean side a mere 2 minute walk across the street. Beds were comfortable and jacuzzi tub worked for us. Wished there were throw blankets for when we were lounging around. ##### Amanda R. We needed extra blankets, as well as sheets for the fold-out sleeper sofa. There were plenty of towels but not enough extra linens for the cool nights. Our young children had an excellent time on the beach. I was slightly disappointed with the cleanliness of the property when we checked in, something that is very noticeable when traveling with my two toddlers. The house had been cleaned, countertops were clean, and beds were made. My main complaint was the floors were still rather dirty. There is a definite musty smell to the house as well. Does the view and ample bedroom space make up for this? Most likely, but I feel it's notable.
