Comfortable & convienient
Solo traveller on an extended holiday in Tanzania. First accomodation in Dar es Salaam. What i didnt know was thereare 2 Tiffany Diamond hotels in DAR! Taxi driver took me to the new one, which turned out not to be mine and tgen tookme to the correct one which is probaly about half a mile away. Nice big room though basic. Comfortable bed, AC worked and safe in room. Bathroom clean and shower powerful and hot. Breakfast was average, buffet station with the usual Service was very good, all staff very helpful and pleasant.

Don't Expect to Sleep Well
I was on a high floor but was still kept awake by street noise, even with ear phones over ear plugs. Poor construction--windows are flimsy and thin, sounding like they are wide open. AC was poor and then went out completely. On the positive side, staff was mostly great and helpful. Very good bathroom and well stocked. Room was also good for the price point. Overall, hotel felt like a slightly dated Western business chain hotel. I passed some cheaper alternatives in the area, and was happy I didn't choose any of those.

Good for a one night stop-over......maybe!
I'm writing this review at 4am because I was just woken up by a group of men having a violent fight on the fire escape just outside my room. It was so violent that I thought they were breaking into the room. I called the front desk and the lady said, "Oh, I'm sorry". Only after insisting, she sent up security. Only after it quieted down did I realise that our windows had been unlocked the whole time, left open by the hotel staff. This was just the last straw in a series of issues. Aircon did not work properly. It took almost half an hour to check in to an empty hotel. The restaurant tried to charge me $80US for a couple of beers and a mixed drink. It turned out they couldn't use a calculator and finally admitted it was $8US. Every conversation I had was a marathon of uncertainty. I was there for only 12 hours and I was in conversations with the staff for at least 2 hours. A taxi was booked through the front desk and a price was agreed, when the taxi came the price had changed upward by 50%, only after another discussion was the price honoured. Also the wifi was next to useless in the rooms. Having said all of this, I will admit there were some good features. Large room, good breakfast and most of the staff were very friendly and accommodating. As convenient as this hotel is, it is not cheap and I would never return.

The hotel is clean and the included breakfast buffet is welcome. There is a mosque next door, so for light sleepers, the 5 am prayers broadcast over the loud speakers may be an issue.

Raw edges and SO MUCH noise!
We arrived at Tiffany Diamond at 10 pm and went straight to our room as we needed to leave at 6 the next morning for our ferry. When we got upstairs to the eighth floor, we had to pass a quarantined room with a sign about pest control. Deciding to be positive we figured if they had a bed bug (or something) problem that was being treated it was better than not knowing or ignoring it. In our room, it was clear that they are trying hard. The room was HUGE and their were robes and slippers and other amenities that were surprising for a hotel in this price bracket. A great looking rainfall showerhead excited us, but didn't work. All of this was fine and since the room was clean and the towels luxurious (for real!) we would have been quite please. However, there was the volume issue! From the moment we opened the door until 11:54 pm there were unbelievably loud sermons being delivered at the mosque that the hotel overlooks. We literally inspected all of the windows to see if one was open because we could not believe how loud this was in our room. when it finally ended, we went to sleep, annoyed that our night had been cut so short. At 5 am, I was awakened by bleating goats. They sound like crying newborns in case you haven't had the pleasure. At 5:15 the call to prayer began and again the volume in our room was unbelievable. Luckily, we needed to wake up around then anyhow so we weren't even angry. This is a clean hotel and that's the best I can say for it.

Generally very good - restaurant needs improvement
The hotel itself was very clean and comfortable. I did have to wait over an hour and a half for room service when I was told it would take 20 minutes. The restaurant/food needs (on my second night only pasta and pizza were available from the menu) improvement to bring it up to the same standard as the rest of the hotel. Overall however I enjoyed my stay there.

Comfortable spacious rooms but the hotel itself is rather dowdy and its neighbourhood comprises a warren of noisy; busy but narrow streets lined with small commercial/retail enterprises. Perfectly ok if you like that type of thing, but not for the faint hearted. I would probably choose the hotel again if I need to be based in the centre of town.

Problems dealing with staff, esp booking/check out
OK hotel, but every time I tried to deal with staff about an issue, they seemed like it was over their heads and had a hard time dealing with things. For example, when I checked out, they wanted my credit card even though I had already paid in full on hotels.com. They also could not even locate my hotels.com booking when I checked in, and made me go to their business center and print out a copy to give to them. Similar issues with restaurant staff. The staff seem friendly enough, like they want to help, but they just don't know how to do their jobs. But the accommodations are decent.

The description of this hotel is not accurate. I brought this to the attention of the hotel manager while I stayed there and now, over 1 month later, the description is still incorrect. You will notice that the room descriptions say there is a microwave on request. There is NOT. I tried to get one and no one knew what I was even talking about. You will notice that all room descriptions say "washer/dryer". Actually, none of the rooms have washers or driers in them. When I asked the hotel staff about that, they said that the washer was the sink and the dryer was the hair drier! You will notice that the room descriptions also say, for the single room, that there is a second bathroom, designer toiletries, sleep number mattresses, jetted bathtub, separate tub and shower, free newspaper, day bed, separate living room, turn down service. ALL OF THAT IS FALSE AND HAS REMAINED FALSE OVER 1 MONTH AFTER I INFORMED MANAGEMENT ABOUT IT. In addition to that, the hotel destroyed some of my clothes when I paid them to wash the clothes. I had a very hard time getting management to even meet with me to discuss any of these issues. Also, the restaurant is pretty bad- most of the food i tried to order, I was told was unavailable, and the food i did have was not very good. The rooms are actually OK, but the fact that they are described so (knowingly) incorrectly does not seem acceptable to me.

What a shambles
The only good thing about this hotel is that it is within walking distance (5 min) to Zanzibar Ferry Terminal, where we had come from. Service was terrible. They told us we should stay in and have meals there as it was not safe to go out at any time. What rubbish! As we couldn't use our mobile phones and the 'free wifi' was useless, we asked the hotel reception to make a booking for us at a restaurant we knew. They refused to use the reception phone to make this booking for us. The lady then used her own mobile phone which made us feel bad - had we made an unreasonable request? The room was noisy, no sound proofing from the busy street below. The bathroom was disgusting. Sewage smell from the drain in the floor. The shower wouldn't drain, so it flooded but at least that stopped the smell for a while. Not expecting any improvement we didn't bother asking for a room change for one night. Breakfast was sparse but free. For a laugh we asked how much a taxi would cost to the airport: 68,000TZS! We used a taxi from the street: 30,000TZS and were very happy to get out of there.

We only stayed here one night before leaving Tanzania to go home. My husband was a little skeptical as we were driving through the neighborhood but once we got inside he said, "you've picked another winner". The hotel is beautiful and staffed with friendly and helpful people. Our room was clean and comfortable. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

1. Double-Payment Inquiry: Like the previous guests encountering the same problem, they have no idea about any coming customers reserved by Hotel.com. According to my reservation record, I should get a queen bed. But they give me one room with two single beds. But I travel alone. 2. Arrogant and Ignorant: When I told them I used Hotel.com to prepaid the cost already, they want me to show them my payment record. Initially, they even hesitate to check up their booking history connected with Hotel com. I gave them the printed record for my protection sake, which I did so already in Taiwan after learning the sad and same story by the previous guest. Now I have to use it myself. They promised me that they will let me know it my prepayment is confirmed OK later. Before I checked out and paid them 3-time visits, I heard nothing from them. No Apology and show me Long Face. During my stay, one more guest living in the 5th floor also faced the similar problem, and I helped him to deal with the same group of the reception center people. What a terrible and unpleasant experience with this hotel and hotel.com. What's wrong with your recommendation and your connection with your allied hotel ? I will write down this story in every Taiwan tourist website and China tourist website about this. I still feel very very very angry and humiliated.

I was literally there for a few hours as I arrived late at night. The hotel was very nice, clean and the breakfast was good. I just had problems checking in as there was only one person at the desk. I would stay there again.

Good location, nice staff, Very comfortable Restaurant was open 24hours/ day which was a nice surprise when we arrived on a late plane. Breakfast was included and was good. I could do without the Celine Dion music that always seemed to be playing somewhere

Great Find
A fantastic hotel. The service, food and rooms were of a very high standard considering the price. From the outside, Tiffany Diamond doesn't look too good but inside, I could find no fault. The rooms were exceptionally clean and fairly spacious. The staff are exceedingly charming and accommodating.

Convenient Excellent Hotel in the City
I booked it online and I had no idea how would I be able to re-orient myself in Dar es salaam from the airport but as soon as I took a cab from the airport to this hotel it was one big mystery solved. The room is clean, air conditioned and the location of the hotel is at the city centre of Dar. Internet did not work for me that day but mainly it was my laziness to learn the password, the fact that they have their kitchen open until very late it was great coz I could eat even at a later time

Good value in a poor location
Tiffany offers great value in central DAR, however unless you want to stay close to the airport, Central DAR has nothing to offer except annoyance. Rooms are spotless, spacious and service was nickel. Downside was the mosque next door (got waken up at 4:30 am), and the poor internet connexion. Also, unless you love clubbing and go to bed early in the morning, pls make sure your room is on the 3 first floors. Food was very good and cheap. I strongly recommend this place, but Oyster Bay and around is a wiser choice for a stay in DAR

Spotless hotel with spacious rooms Safe place with welcoming staff Only downside was the Internet. Disco can be noisy but if you stay on lower floors (was really ok). Also next to a mosque so remind the prayer and noise before sun set. But overall best choice by far in city centre

Das Hotel war gut, ausgenommen der Zustand des Badezimmers. Starker Geruch von Chemikalien im Bad. Nasser Boden hinter dem WC. Sonst hat es gepasst. Personal freundlich und kompetent. Airport Transfer hat bestens funktioniert. Nur musste ich das Hotel vorher anrufen um die Abholung zu organisieren. Über Hotels.com nicht online kontaktierbar.

En dag og en natt på hotellet. Rommet var rent og komfortabelt. Litt skuffet over at det ikke fantes uteområde, man havnet rett ut på en heller travel gate. Spiste to måltider på restauranten, begge var under middels gode. Prisene på maten var bra.
