There aren't many hotels or restaurants in this area of Scotland (Port Appin) which kind of explains why this one is so popular. But the main reason people seem to be flocking to this amazing place is because the food is so outstanding and the service is exceptional. We tried to find a hotel closer to Fort William but the area is very popular this time of year (summer) which is why we ended up further south than we anticipated. The drive was beautiful and we were not disappointed when we arrived.
The hotel is small but VERY cozy with beautiful views across the loch. The hotel booked a table at the restaurant after we booked our room and we were so glad they did. While we were having a drink in the bar before dinner, we saw lots of people trying to get a table for dinner and being turned away.
We had a wonderful meal (mussels, lobster, langoustine then sticky toffee pudding and chocolate tart for dessert) before taking a walk down the pier before turning in. The bed was SO comfortable and we slept like parents away from their babies for a night.
In the morning we were treated to another delicious meal with beautiful views over the loch. We were only there for one night but we would have happily stayed another to explore the surrounding islands and enjoy more food at such a tasty spot. I would HIGHLY recommend a stay and as many meals as you can stomach at the Pierhouse Hotel in Port Appin.
