Not as welcome as we would have liked
Stayed over Easter with my daughter.
The room we were given was a standard room, rather cramped, maybe they should take out some furniture as we could barely walk around the bed. That said the room was very clean and the bed comfortable with quality sheets.
Our sleep was spoilt on every one of our three night stay due to our room being opposite the corridor door which banged and people talking outside our door. It was also above the main front hotel door, so I recommend you avoid this room if possible.
Another guest nearby had a dog which barked from time to time. I hadn't realised pets were allowed in the hotel at the time of booking.
Overall the staff were excellent, particularly the younger waiters and bar staff who were so polite and friendly. Excellent sommelier and wine cellar.
Unfortunately we had two meals ruined by being seated in a corner next to a service table on one side and a couple with a screaming baby on the other. When you are paying good money for dinnerl you don't expect this kind of disturbance. We felt as if we were treated like second class guests despite being of smart appearance and well mannered, so I don't know what criteria is needed to be treated better.
The quality of the food was very good and came in a timely manner. However during our dinner service we were pretty much ignored after our main course had arrived.
The restaurant lacked some atmosphere but tables well presented although some were too close together.
