Weekend with grandchildren

Posted 24-Mar-2017
Pros: Quality Facilities and nice touches for young people on arrival
Location: Location good for North Lakes and easy to locate off M6. Penrith is within 5 minutes drive and provides for a variety of dining.
We took our two young grandsons to North Lakes hotel for the weekend with the intention of having a Lake District walk and enjoying hotel facilities. Not a cheap weekend but the hotel provides for a very comfortable stay with great spa facilities and a superb breakfast. A good sized family room with bunk beds and some lovely arrival touches with named cookies and some small treats waiting for the boys. A very pleasant stay in quality surroundings, good service and great location for North Lakes.

Lovely hotel with great facilities

Posted 23-Mar-2017
Pros: Bedrooms Swimming pool Quality of breakfast
Cons: Drawers for more storage in bedrooms. Prices - will only stay here if good deal available. Bar prices high but probably typical of a four star hotel
Location: Just off the M6 and near to Penrith. All of Lake District accessible from here. Carlisle and Scottish borders a short drive up M6.
Stayed for 3 nights whilst visiting the area. Staying here enhanced the enjoyment of this short break, with comfortable bedrooms, a great breakfast each morning and great facilities. We only had time to use the lovely pool and hot tub. The dining room, bar and reception area all had log fires on the go which only added to the warm feeling of staying here. All staff that we encountered were professional and welcoming.

Should have been told

Posted 11-Mar-2017
Pros: The location and the Spa
Cons: Keep guests informed of problems and better housekeeping supervision
Location: Ver handy for M6
We booked into the hotel and were given Room 321 and then told that the lift was out of action. We later found out that it had not worked for over two weeks. As my wife had a broken ankle and uses walking sticks there was no way that she could walk up three flights of stairs. We were moved to a ground floor room (Room 118). On going to bed my wife noticed blood stains on the duvet. We then found that the phone did not work. On going to reception to complain I was put in touch with the Duty Manager who looked at the stains and said it was not acceptable. He offered to move us to a different room but as we had unpacked we declined. He then took the duvet away and after a while returned with a new one.

Great hotel with a relaxed atmosphere.

Posted 20-Feb-2017
Booked a 3 night stay from 15/02/17 (only a week prior) at Penrith Hotel & Spa and once we were inside the entrance... we knew it was a great choice. Ample parking, helpful reception, open fires, bar, lounge area, great choice of breakfast (Full English was exceptional.....tasty, fresh & hot) ,drinks etc. Indoor pool, whirlpool & steam room were great too as were showers and changing room facilities. Although it's not central to the Lakes themselves... it is a fantastic 'base camp for trips into the Yorkshire Dales, Peak District , Carlisle (even Scotland) and of course the beautiful Lakes themselves. All just a short drive away through some eye-catching scenery. With all rooms on 3 floors (G, 1st & 2nd) it's no hardship to use the stairs instead of the lift, which is just as well as it was Out of Order Friday afternoon (and still so upon our departure around 10:00. A minor setback for some but there's always staff on hand to aid anyone with luggage etc. Definitely one to visit again.

Great hotel

Posted 07-Feb-2017
Pros: Very relaxing pool area, with new furniture since last visit.
Cons: Room small
Location: Penrith is great and lakes very close
Lovely hotel, good food, great pool only issue was room a bit small and had adjoining door to next room, which whilst locked did let noise through.

North lakes

A lot nicer on the inside than the out. Nice room, but had one rude staff member who knock on our door and had a go at us for our television been loud. But it was on volume five. Which we thought was out of order.

Room was not up to expectation

Posted 30-Jan-2017
Disappointed as we have previously visited and stayed at this hotel just in a twin room before which was really nice so we decided to book again but in a superior room however we was disappointed when we got in to the room to find the room wasn't like it was on the pictures as the television wasn't on the wall like it was shown and when it finally came to the evening in which we needed the dressing table, only one of the lamps were working which then caused poor lighting and caused us to struggle to get ready for our evening meal, my partner actually sat down at the dressing table to only then not realise that it was too small and not ergonomically correct to a user and she actually scraped the skin off of her leg, the coffee machine provided was also an exciting prospect to the room however when we came across to make a coffee it turned out to be faulty and very difficult to make a simple drink, as a superior room we expected more high quality which we feel we overpaid for a lower quality room. Not happy and very disappointed
