Nice hotel but v expensive food

Posted 30-Apr-2017
Pros: Comfortable room when it finally warmed up
Cons: The cost of food needs to be reduce or portions dramatically improved. Kitchen should be open later that 8:30 at night
Location: Penrith. Lots of restaurants. I would go there to eat.
Stayed one night with a number of colleagues in April 2017. One colleague had fish and chips and glass of wine £27! I had crusted pork loin on bed of potato. The portion was so small I was finished in about five mouthfuls and could not wait for breakfast! When mentioned to reception I was asked if I had been told the portion was small and was I offered any additional vegetables ( at around £3.50 per portion!). My answer was no. By the way the kitchen closes at 8:30PM. Window in room which was a deluxe room was open on arrival with heating turned off. It was actually snowing that day! All in all with a room cost of £148 and extremely high cost of food this hotel does not offer value for money

Weekend with grandchildren

Posted 24-Mar-2017
Pros: Quality Facilities and nice touches for young people on arrival
Location: Location good for North Lakes and easy to locate off M6. Penrith is within 5 minutes drive and provides for a variety of dining.
We took our two young grandsons to North Lakes hotel for the weekend with the intention of having a Lake District walk and enjoying hotel facilities. Not a cheap weekend but the hotel provides for a very comfortable stay with great spa facilities and a superb breakfast. A good sized family room with bunk beds and some lovely arrival touches with named cookies and some small treats waiting for the boys. A very pleasant stay in quality surroundings, good service and great location for North Lakes.

Lovely hotel with great facilities

Posted 23-Mar-2017
Pros: Bedrooms Swimming pool Quality of breakfast
Cons: Drawers for more storage in bedrooms. Prices - will only stay here if good deal available. Bar prices high but probably typical of a four star hotel
Location: Just off the M6 and near to Penrith. All of Lake District accessible from here. Carlisle and Scottish borders a short drive up M6.
Stayed for 3 nights whilst visiting the area. Staying here enhanced the enjoyment of this short break, with comfortable bedrooms, a great breakfast each morning and great facilities. We only had time to use the lovely pool and hot tub. The dining room, bar and reception area all had log fires on the go which only added to the warm feeling of staying here. All staff that we encountered were professional and welcoming.

Should have been told

Posted 11-Mar-2017
Pros: The location and the Spa
Cons: Keep guests informed of problems and better housekeeping supervision
Location: Ver handy for M6
We booked into the hotel and were given Room 321 and then told that the lift was out of action. We later found out that it had not worked for over two weeks. As my wife had a broken ankle and uses walking sticks there was no way that she could walk up three flights of stairs. We were moved to a ground floor room (Room 118). On going to bed my wife noticed blood stains on the duvet. We then found that the phone did not work. On going to reception to complain I was put in touch with the Duty Manager who looked at the stains and said it was not acceptable. He offered to move us to a different room but as we had unpacked we declined. He then took the duvet away and after a while returned with a new one.
