Nice hotel Quite expensive

You feel well treated and 'pampered' - but there is a cost! Dinner was quite expensive and disappointing based on the charges.

Elegant boutique hotel away from crowds

Posted 17-Aug-2016
My husband and I arrived at this lovely hotel after a long drive from London and it was a welcoming 'home' feeling from the outset. Everyone, staff and guests, were friendly but not intrusive. The hotel is surrounded by lovely gardens, extensive views and a tan nearby with it's own summerhouse. The dining room is excellent - great for breakfasts before setting out in a full day and a hug quality dinner option when you return. I highly recommend it for couples and family groups.

Stunningly beautiful setting and excellent service

Posted 27-Jul-2016
We stayed three nights at the Linthwaite House Hotel. We had a gorgeous room provided to us as an upgrade because our original room had a problem that was discovered before we got there. The service was excellent, courteous but not intrusive. The setting was stunning and we woke up to a view of a rainbow over Lake Windermere one morning. The hotel provides guides to very charming, if at times arduous, walks through pastures and up steep inclines. The food was excellent. It was creative and locally sourced. My only regret is that it is a long travel route from New York City to the Lake District. Next time, I would fly to Manchester directly and bypass London.

Brief encounter

Posted 26-Jul-2016 on Hotels
celebrating friend's birthday with lunch at the hotel. Staying overnight enabled us to enjoy the stunning garden, woodland and tarn that feature in the hotel grounds. Crossed Windermere on the car ferry and had a good walk around Tarn Hows before driving home.

This was the most expensive place we stayed in on a three-week trip and it was the only one that disappointed. It was way too expensive for what we received. They charged extra for everything. At every point I felt like they were just focused on making more money instead of providing a great vacation for their guests. We had been promised a certain room, but upon arrival the only option was a room with a view of trash cans. Our only choice was to pay much more for an upgrade. The breakfasts and dinners were so expensive that we chose to simply skip breakfast and go elsewhere for dinner.
