Magical land in the lake country

Posted 21-May-2016
Pros: It it a beautiful location with walking paths by a secluded fishing pond & sheep pastures
Cons: The online directions got us lost. They should put effective GPS address online.
Location: Beatrice Potter's cottage (Peter Rabbit) was the best surprise of our trip
The staff were helpful. The facility was lovely. The room was small for the price but it was a weekend night with a wedding so upgrades were probably not available.

Very stiff and "constipated"

Posted 10-May-2016
Pros: The location and view
Cons: As above
Nobody smiled. Extremely formal. Not a pleasant and friendly stay. The dinner was fair and so was the breakfast. Both rate 2 out of 5. Its really old and very cramped. Over rated in my opinion. They can do much better

Fantastic Hotel

Linthwaite House is that rare combination of comfort, class and service without being stuffy. I consider it my home away from home. The cosy lounge and views across the landscape are an incredible place to watch the weather, plan a walk or have an evening cocktail.

One of the best!

We stayed for a couple of nights following our wedding. The Lake District is one of our favourite areas for a short break. We were not disappointed as the Hotel was excellent. The food and accommodation superb. Of course the cost was above but still great value overall. Well worth a visit.

Luxury stay

Posted 17-Oct-2015 on Hotels
Staff were very attentive, the food was excellent. In particular the evening meal however it was expensive. We found it necessary to ask for vegetables to be added to our meals as we had been touring for a month and find that this is something that many hotels skimp on. Presumably because of the cost. Breakfast was a little disappointing in as much that there was almost no fresh fruit. We expected a hotel of this standard to have a variety of fresh fruit for times when a continental breakfast is preferred.
