Beautiful hotel. Great garden area. Walking distance to town so accessible but quiet. Excellent breakfast. Service was very attentive with everything from fresh milk to hike recommendations. Will absolutely return

Beautiful accommodation, we stayed in a suite which was stylish and well equipped. Hosts were very friendly and helpful and the breakfasts were amazing! Would definitely recommend!

My wife and I stayed for a romantic weekend. Ticked every box. Lovely staff who were strong on attention to detail. Great selection for breakfast and dinner was very nice. Stayed in the Coniston room. Very well appointed and comfortable. Happy to report that there were no weird smells that kept us awake! Great location too. Lovely grounds and very peaceful yet only a 5 min walk to centre of Windermere. Great boutique hotel all round. Highly recommend.

Both Caroline and Jon are outstanding hosts. A really professional but personal feel about the whole place. Nice easy location for a walk into Windermere and not too long if you want to get down to the lake if you're feeling like a longer walk. Intimate lounge and classic dining room. The smoked haddock mousseline must be the highlight of the menu. Simply outstanding.

We enjoyed the fact that this is a small, boutique hotel. It was run by a husband and wife team who were extremely welcoming and were supported by a team of attentive staff. the hotel itself was comfortable and offered different areas that one could sit in if one so desired. The owners and staff were more than happy to offer recommendations of walks to take and places to visit. All our individua;l needs were met and this is one place we would very willingly return to.

Amazing hotel
This is without a doubt the best hotel we have ever stayed in. From check in to check out, the service was second to none! We stayed in the Crinkly Crags room and it was lovely, very clean, decorated beautifully and very comfortable, with everything you could need and some really nice touches, like a welcome letter, water and chocolates. The breakfast menu was great and served fast and very tasty. I cant wait to go back and other hotels wont compare now!

Pungent smell
Bitterly disappointed. The ratings by others were so good I had high expectations. The room we were in was Coniston. My main issue was the pungent smell in the room. It smells a bit like formaldehyde and can be likened to the odd aroma you sometimes get when you walk through the stuffed animals section in a museum. I have no idea where it is coming from. I'm now awake at 3:30am struggling to sleep because of the smell sticking in the back of my throat, wishing I had insisted on getting a different room and wondering why when I spent over £200 for one night in this hotel it could be so bad. The hotel is in fact 3 star despite Google showing it as being a 5 star hotel. The TV is basic and poorly located to the side of the bed rather than in front (Not that we really used it). Parking was very difficult with limited spaces and bad lighting. Why others have rated this hotel so high I have no idea. Perhaps their rooms we much less smelly. I would not have be so harsh on this hotel was it not for the smell, but I find it unacceptable. My fiance didn't seem to be so bothered by it though so maybe I'm overly sensitive to that kind of smell. On the positive side The view from the window in the morning was amazing you can see the all the hills in the distance and while we were there, there was an incredibly bright rainbow. Breakfast was good, there is not enough room for a full continental but they make up things to order in very little time and there is a small selection of

Unfortunately, as you said your fiance didn't detect the smell and neither did any of the housekeeping or management team from the hotel. The only place to locate a TV in the room you chose was to the side of the bed. We have put it on a bracket for watching in bed, it can be easily angled if you wish. Most guests probably watch from the comfort of the chairs in the room, which is the direction it faces. So, the positives - views were amazing, breakfast is good - actually its one of the best a la carte breakfasts you can order - we have researched this extensively. Most guests are satisfied with the continental that is put out which includes 7 cereals, freshly squeezed orange juice, freshly squeezed apple juice, grapefruit juice, sparkling and still water, fruit compote, marinated prunes, a selection of pastries, croissants, 3-4 home-made jams and marmalades, a selection of fresh fruit and from the kitchen our porridge and pink grapefruit prepared to order. New for 2019 is a continental plate which can be ordered instead of a cooked breakfast if you wish. Unlimited tea, coffee and toast. So apart from a smell that none of the team could detect, but we aren't saying it wasn't there of course, we are sorry you lost sleep but did you really fairly review us?

My wife and i stayed at the cedar manor hotel for the weekend. We could not fault it the place is immaculate. The hitel staff are so helpful nothing is of any problem. Our en-suite room was beautiful and very comfortable. For breakfast there is a lot of choice form cereals hot croissants, toast fruit and yogurt and a very good range of cooked food. We would definitely recommend it and we certainly would stay again. Thank you very much to the hotel for a lovely weekend

Lovely decor and friendly host. Really enjoyed our stay. Luckily, we got a good deal for our room, but saw some other really expensive quotes after we had booked.....I don't think that we would have picked it at those prices.

Beautiful hotel with very friendly owners. Our room was lovely and the bed was very comfy. We had a great night sleep as it was so quiet. Breakfast was very good and excellent quality. Lovely stay, would definitely go back.

Fab hotel
The hotel was fab and so was the staff. We got an upgrade for free on arrival. They have thought through every little detail. Chocolates on the bed, water in the fridge, nibbles before drinks and dinner in the hotel was lovely. Would highly recommend a stay here.

A wonderful place to stay
A beautiful small hotel, very clean and very well run, Paulina and Yan were just great. We stayed fir 3 nights and had a beautiful meal in the restaurant on the last night, just superb. There’s a lovely lounge with a small bar and we just had a fantastic stay. A great relaxing time, a must if you go to Windermere.

Relaxing wekend
The hotel sits in very pretty grounds and on arrival the first impression was excellent. Parking was easy and we were checked-in by Paulina. The check-in was informal, informative and relaxing. Our room was exactly as described on the website and clean, comfortable and homely. The bathroom facilities were excellent and modern. The hotel location in Windermere is within 5 minutes walking of the town centre and 30 minute walk from Bowness. The hotel is next to the main road through Windermere but is really quiet and peaceful. The hotel is a family run business and this is impressed upon you particularly at breakfast or dinner when you meet the staff and realise what a warm and welcoming hotel it is. The food itself is excellent and I would recommend having dinner in the hotel at least once as the quality and value of the food and wine was excellent. After a days walking the ability to retire to the lounge for a drink and then collapse into your bedroom is all you could ask for. Overall a very relaxing and enjoyable weekend.

Great property in a lovely setting
We enjoyed our stay at Cedar Manor. The hosts were great and offered advice on dining in the local area and walking directions to the town. We spent most of our time traveling the area and did not eat in the restaurant. The room was a little on the small side and the hot weather required a fan in the room which did not add to the comfort. Otherwise all good and worth a visit

Jonathon and Caroline make you feel very special. They are great hosts. Evening meal was simply great. Great breakfast, buffet and cooked to order menu. Quiet even though on larger street, because it's set back from road. Turndown service is good extra.

The room seemed fine- the bed was very comfortable. But the toilet didn't flush properly and they just said it was " really ancient" and to pump it a lot and then wait for a while before trying to flush it again. No views of anything other than the driveway, no garden, no views of the lake. And the dinner was very overpriced and ordinary. The steak was thin and overlooked. The trout was fine and the service was very attentive.

Thanks for reviewing. We couldn't find anything wrong with the flush when we checked it and suggested that you may need to firmly flush. Your room has lovely views down onto our garden, yes, the driveway is there too. Can't really comment on your experience in the restaurant, at the time, you didn't raise any concerns. We serve rib-eye which is a thinner cut, we don't serve trout so wonder if you are confusing us with somewhere else.

Charming English hotel
A small hotel close to Windermere railway station but easy walking to Windermere and Bowness. Country hotel atmosphere and attentive but not obtrusive staff. Dined in one night; very good dinner featuring local ingredients and short but well-chosen wine list. It's a highly competitive market for small hotels here but we can wholeheartedly recommend the Cedar Manor Hotel.
