Welcome to the luxurious penthouse at Black Bear Lodge, which is located directly across the street from the 4 chair West Wall lift at Mt. Crested Butte. The condo's views of both the gorgeous mountain and valley below are spectacular, both summer and winter. With more than 2700 square feet, the penthouse can sleep 12 - 14 people and includes 4 spacious bedrooms + game room, each bedroom with a private bathroom and television. The penthouse consists of an extra large living area, dining area, gourmet kitchen, 2 king bedroom suites, 1 queen bedroom suite, 1 twin bedroom suite, a game room with 2 sets of twin bunk beds, and 2 twin blow up mattresses, 4.5 bathrooms, a steam shower, 3 private balconies, a utility room with a full sized washer and dryer, and an elevator that opens directly into the penthouse private foyer. The unit has beautiful custom furnishings and has been recently updated with all new fresh paint, plush carpeting and luxurious bed and bath linens. This property is well suited for a large family or several families, offering a significant amount of privacy and space for everyone. Black Bear Lodge is a beautiful condominium complex located at the base of Crested Butte Mountain offering underground heated parking serviced by an elevator, an outdoor hot tub \*\*\*\*\*(Please note: Hot Tub & grill will be closed from 9/9/24 - 9/13/24 & 9/16/24 - 9/24/24),\*\*\*\*\* and outdoor grilling facilities. The winter activities are second to none. With an abundance of ski runs ranging from green to extreme double black, Mt. Crested Butte offers something for every type of skier. The kids' ski programs are extensive, and the base of the mountain offers bungee jumping, tubing, and zip lining. For those more adventurous skiers, Crested Butte offers an excellent array of back country skiing. While skiing is king in Crested Butte, the summer and fall seasons offer incredible weather and marvelous activities. Fishing, hunting, mountain biking, hiking, golfing, whitewater rafting, and numerous town activities are wonderful during the warmer months. The summer kids' programs are also incredible. Summer activities at the mountain include miniature golf, a rock climbing wall, bungee jumping, zip lining, Frisbee golf, and a ropes course. We would have loved the West Wall lift to be open, but I think the late snow kept some trails closed. It still wasn’t a bad walk from the place and the ski out was perfect. The kitchen had enough plates, pots and pans for us to cook. The gift bag was very thoughtful with many good items that we used and enjoyed. The only reason I gave a 4 rating for cleanliness is because the king sheets had a rip in them on one of the beds. The multiple views are beautiful. The beds are so comfortable. The kitchen has everything you need to cook for a group. The covered heated garage, elevator and ski store room in the lobby made getting around with bulky ski gear so much easier than usual. Also, access to the west wall ski lift made it easy for all levels of skiers. Easy access to the town shuttle and the base would be great winter or summer. We booked this location not only for fun, but also to get an idea of some of the condominium styles we'd be looking to purchase. The condo is located in Crested Butte Mountain which is our preferred spot, given that we prefer to be more outdoors than in the town. Beautiful traditional log cabin feel with 180 degree views of Crested Butte mountain. We had a little bit of a hiccup on the amount of beds that were in the condo, but the property management group gave us some blow up beds to make up for the kids. Cable was out, but we weren't there to watch TV so that didn't affect our stay. We could tell that a really nice family owned the place and loved and cared for it. We had a great time and i recommend this spot to anyone. ##### Milan S. We all had our own rooms and bathrooms, and the gathering areas (combined kitchen, dining, den) were spacious as well. And what beautiful views! Skiing was easy to get to with a quick walk across the street to catch the West Wall Lift. This base was easy to get to when done for the day. We actually were fitted for our ski rentals in the lobby of the Black Bear Lodge, where we could conveniently put our gear in the lockers provided us there. The free shuttle picked us up right across the street, so we could go just about anywhere without getting our car out of the basement garage. The host was very attentive, and called to check on us a couple of times that week to insure we had everything we needed (we did, as the prepared very well for their guests). This penthouse suite is truly better than it looks. From the private elevator that opens at your front door, to the location on the mountain, to the views and even the stocked kitchen...the listing undersells all aspects of the place. We rented it for a week, and I heard over and over from my kids, "Dad, this is the best place we've ever stayed at". I had my 29yr old son and his new wife, my 27yr old son and his longtime lady friend, and my 16 yr old daughter and myself. The location and lodging literally could not have been any better. If you have a group of people and want to spread out (or congregate in one great room as we did) this is the perfect place. Super quite, solid sleeping (humidifiers in every closet btw) conditions and the best sunrise and sunsets you could hope for, this is the perfect place. We will be back many times. Lots of space to both hang out as a group but also privacy with bedrooms/bath set up. Very clean, easy check-in and out. Property manager was responsive when we had issues with the wifi in the unit.
