We had a really nice stay at the Copthorne - reminding me of the lovely visits that we had had their in the past.
Over the last 15 years, my family and I have stayed numerous times at the Copthorne Gatwick and we have
always enjoyed our stay. The rooms are large and comfortable. The bathrooms are more than adequate (not
as modern as some places but clean). The dining room is lovely - especially the half of the room that is more
like a conservatory. The playground is nice for the kids and my grand-daughter had loads of fun on the slide
and swings. Parking is easy enough. No complaints at all. The front desk staff is like a lot of front desk staff
at larger hotels - not particularly friendly but polite enough to get you through the check in an check out process.
Looking forward to our next visit.
When we arrived the staff welcomed us and sorted our room. We went to the room the room had a double bed and not twin beds as requested. Staff immediately changed the rooms for us. The room was clean and light. I did think the beds were a little narrow, but for one night we managed.
The dining area was a bit commercial and did not look cosy / comfortable, more like a canteen.
There was no cash machine in the hotel and we had to go out in the rain to the Tesco close by to get some cash.
The staff serving our food was polite, friendly and helpful.
Stayed for a weekend break. Was welcomed, had a good, clean comfortable room.
Only let down was the restaurant head waitress. Told us where our table was and left us with not even an offer of drinks. I watched others being escorted to their table, given menus and offered drinks by the same head waitress and then she wondered why I complained.
Food was good though and she partly redeemed herself, so I gave her a decent tip. Not only did she not offer any thanks, I then discovered they also added a 10% service charge to my bill. What was a good overal experience was sadly let down by one person.
We stayed at the lodge the night before we had to fly home. The woman working was just lovely and allowed us to stay in the breakfast room after checkout until our taxi came. Great local pub around the corner, too!
