Could do better

Crathorne Hall is a lovely building, in a lovely setting. However, it is somewhat soul-less. Tt is certainly very comfortable, but it's just not very welcoming. The room we were given was disabled-friendly, but not the only room available and it was simply not very suitable for able-bodied guests. The hand basin is very low and cloe to the toilet, making them both quite difficult and uncomfortable to use, especially for someone with lower back problems. Getting the room changed was a bit of a marathon, and initially the staff suggested we would have to pay extra! This hotel is expensive for the area. They found us another room. I just don't think that we should have been given the original room in the first place. We went to the bar where the service was slow even though there were only another 8 guests. The staff are very pleasant but it did feel rather like being on the set of Downtown. At breakfast the service then was better. The food was ok, but it was all either very slightly over cooked or a bit cool. It was nice enough but a bit skimped, and at these prices I really do just think they could do so much better.
