Very impressed with this hotel - it had plenty of space, was modern and clean, free parking and a free breakfast on the 12th floor with incredible views of Guimaraes. Good value too. It's next to the train station so it is convenient (I didn't hear any noise from trains or road). It's a 5-10 minutes walk into the old centre, but plenty of restaurants along the way. I'd stay here again.

Our room was very clean, comfortable and bigger than we expected. All staff we met were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast also exceeded our expectations. We have been very happy with our stay.

Great place in a good spot
The room was spacious, clean, modern and very walkable to the nearby historical attractions and restaurants. The staff were wonderful, friendly, and very helpful. Breakfast was plentiful and very tasty. Would definitely stay here again when in Guimarães.

Perfect business hotel
This is the perfect business hotel. It’s conveniently located right close by the city centre of Guimares and it has everything you need in terms of business trips needs: good rooms, breakfast and parking on location. It’s not the most good looking hotel from the outside and I would not go for a romantic getaway but it is great for business. Staff is caring and kind.

Nice hotel
The hotel is a bit dated, but in a good location, walk-able to every attraction. A supermarket nearby.Good breakfast.They have their own parking lot underground, and it's free.

A hotel with parking available is a must in Lisbon if you have a car. Street parking is near impossible to find. It is why we chose this hotel. Four of us crammed in a small room with very little space to move. Desk clerk and breakfast staff went over and above to help accommodate our needs.

The hotel is rather tired looking but our room was comfortable and clean with s great view. The hotel is in a good location for the station and easy walk to local nats and restaurants. Breakfast was ok with a some what limited choice.

Large family rooms
Nice hotel with free underground parking. We were able to check-in early and park the car. Our family room was very large with the 2nd twin bed set in an alcove. The beds were comfortable but the sound proofing could be improved. Breakfast was fine but the coffee and juice were poor. The location of the hotel is very handy for the walk into town, approx 15mins & there is a restaurant just opposite the train station that is lovely and only 2 minutes from the hotel

Beautiful view from the top floor buffet.
We were able to walk into the older part of town, but it is at least six blocks to reach the edge of the tourist area. The hotel has a free parking garage. The Wi-Fi was good. The breakfast buffet included lots of fruit choices.

Comfortable Stay at Hotel Fundador
Hotel Fundador is a very good place to stay, especially if you are driving. Unlike many parking facilities in Portugal, the parking garage is easy to get into & out of, and the individual parking spaces are quite large. The garage elevator can take you directly to your floor. The rooms are quite large, clean and well equipped with electric sockets. Breakfast was satisfactory, and the breakfast room on one of the upper floors offered a great view of the city. The hotel is located about a 20 to 30 minute walk from the historic center (uphill on the way back). It was not practical to walk back downtown for dinner, but there are two good restaurants within a five minute walk from the hotel. The restaurant directly across the street is superior. It offers creative and perfectly cooked meals at a reasonable price.

Excellent stay
Well located hotel, with great view of old town. It's the tallest building in the city and stands out in the landscape. The restaurant on the top floor is quite nice. The room on the eighth floor, where we stayed, was spacious and very comfortable.

Great view
Hotel room was very large and clean with an amazing view. They love to keep the room very warm so turning down the thermostat is a must. Very convenient location for seeing the old section of town. Friendly staff. Only negative is the elevators are tiny and during "rush hour" (breakfast time) will take a long time to get to your floor and the Wifi was pretty bad.

Great Stay
For a 3 star hotel, I give it 10 out of 10. Room is spacious and functional. Staff is courteous and efficient. View from room is amazing. Breakfast is ample and good. It is across from the train station. Highly recommended.

Excellent price/quality rate
The staff was very helpful, the room was big, simple but nice and comfortable. Much more of what you may get for its rate. Location is perfect for those who arrive by car and train. Is very close to the historic city, at walking distance. I recommend this hotel very much for those who do not want to spend money without resigning comfort

Hotel Fundador Guimaraes October 2014
We stayed for two days We came on the suburban train from Porto and were pleasantly surprised that it was two minutes walk from the train station also the environs around the station had none of the seediness of many such places. We left early on our final day before breakfast and were most impressed with being handed a pack lunch to take with us. Also just a 10 minute stroll from the centro historico of Guimaraes with its many traditional restaurants. All in all a wonderful experience.

Love this hotel
I stayed at hotel four days. Hotel is so clean, comfortable and big. My room has so beautiful view and it makes me very easy to look around the city. I suggest U to book it if U visit Guimares.

Good value but quite a walk from the city centre. Hotel does not have a restaurant and no suitable restaurants in the vicinity. You can get a reasonable snack in the bar on the 18th floor. We were the only customers that evening! Also, no breakfast room but efficiently served in the bedroom. Nice little table and chairs to eat from but personally, I prefer to eat in a breakfast room/restaurant.
