Tossa is a lovely resort and we were drawn to the Golden Bahia as it was one of the highest rated on Expedia and trip advisor. My wife thought the hotel met expectations but I didn’t. Firstly the hotel was rammed ( though to be expected the first week of August I suppose), but this meant that the pools were ridiculously overcrowded, sun beds full and mealtimes just bedlam. My wife enjoyed the food as there was a lot of seafood options; but myself and my son found it samey and the meat was often of v poor quality. Breakfasts were better and the chef who made omelettes, pancakes and fried eggs was a machine. Rooms are v clean and nice, though a little dated.
We found some of the reception staff helpful (especially the concierge and the Irish gentleman), though some were stern to point of rudeness.
This hotel is great if you have young children and like Butlins style evening entertainment, but if you don’t and have more sophisticated tastes then best avoided. Having always stayed at a minimum 4 star resorts this just didn’t feel like one, though the list of facilities is impressive.
