I did all inclusive, this was not a traditional all inclusive only select drinks are included, I would consider if drinks are priority for you look at other hotels which are truly all inc. Food was lovely and hotel clean, spa (jacuzzi, sauna, steam room) limited to 45mins a day and has to be booked in advance. Gym has two machines and a selection of free weights.

We booked this hotel the first week of October and loved our stay here. Everything was just great! In my opinion the best hotel if you want to stay right on the beach in Santa Susanna. Excellent service, extremely clean and there was a wide selection of food at the buffet. We booked two different rooms different times. The Junior suite and twin/double room sea view, both very nice spacious with comfortable beds. If you book the junior suite you get extra perks like free sunbeds on the beach, time at the spa, slippers and robes, and no deposit on the beach towels. The location of the hotel is close to everything, if you want to grab a bite there are many restaurants around and shops to explore. The beach is wide and long and the sea was warm and very clean. There’s a bus station to go to Barcelona or explore little towns on Costa Brava. What we will remember is the friendliness of all the staff. They made us feel very welcomed and safe. My 18yr old daughter and I wanted an easy quick vacation by the sea and found a perfect match at this location. We loved this hotel and the beautiful, salt water pool. Friendly staff, private quiet sphere. The minimal design was clean and supported the relaxing feeling. Best hotel in the area. We wish we had more time to stay longer.

The Alegria Mar was a great hotel and provides a relaxing atmosphere in a super resort. The quality of the rooms and general areas is perfect. The food both at breakfast and Evening meal was very good with a lot of choice for both Continental tastes and traditional UK tastes.

Overall good , although I had a problem with the bed , I had booked a double bed and got twins. I was told they didn’t have any double beds available.

The staff was great! The beach is two seconds away. Our room was nice and clean, the gym is small but you have what you need. Large pools and spa. The food at the hotel was also great.

Only cons i have was the age group. I picked an adults only thinking the ages would be 21 and up but really ended up being more of a 50 and up kind of scene. My partner and i were primarily the youngest ones there and we're in our 30s. Also the rooms were very small even though we went for the cheaper side. Same with entertainment, was not much at all. Music was dull and quiet. We also got talked into massages we thought were included but then charged at check out. All inclusive limited us quite a bit on drinks as well. Overall the place was nice but we dont feel we got our money's worth. For sure we will pick somewhere else next time.

Everything was good with the hotel except for the indoor hot tub was Luke warm and you need a reservation to get in and you have to pay extra to use the room safe.

We loved our room and balcony - great views of the beach & sea. It's the last hotel so relatively quiet but with easy access to the livelier parts of town. The food was very good and all the staff in this hotel are friendly and polite. I would love to go back to this hotel sometime in the future.

A mixed bag
I have stayed in the area many times but tried a different hotel this time. Location on the beach with good views, small but adequate room. The food was ok but not as big a choice as other hotels nearby. Music until midnight so maybe not the best if like me you are on business and need sleep but good if you have time to relax. Staff very friendly.

Beach!
Very nice hotel in an amazing location (right next to the beach). Service was very good. Surrounding area not so nice, but if you are coming for the beach and the sea, in a relaxing and comfortable atmosphere, this is a very good choice for the price.

Complimentary drink on arrival staff were friendly and helpful,got cake brought to our room as we mentioned it was my birthday lovely gesture. Got offered a free picnic on leaving for airport hotel lobby was stunning! Food was fab location was perfect would definitely return.

This is a lovely hotel with a great location right on the beach and helpful and pleasant staff. We had a balcony with a superb view. There are however a few caveats. The food flatters to deceive. It looks great and there is a lot of choice but generally, with the odd exception, it was bland and tasteless. The head chef needs to learn how to season and spice. Some of the meat especially was poor quality. Charging for water at evening meals is a bit penny-pinching The indoor pool, which was an attraction because of the autumn visit, is a large jacuzzi not a proper pool and the outdoor pool is unheated and rather small. Providing free robes however made visits to the jacuzzi very easy. The waiting staff can be a bit over-enthusiastic, clearing tables when you've only gone to get the next course. Once can be looked upon as a simple error, twice suggests they need to devise a better system. The evening entertainments left a lot to be desired with one not happening at all, another ending early and none particularly great. Santa Suzanna itself doesn't offer much for a long stay as the town away from the coast is uninteresting. However the 10 euro return train ticket to Barcelona was well worth it and a very easy day out. We had a lovely half-term break because on the whole the hotel was good and the sun shone every day. However we'll probably not go back because of the limitations of the destination.

Great break away.. Nice hotel as it's adult only .. no screaming kids .. oh joy. Staff couldn't be more helpful. 30 seconds from the beach.. Nice pool area.. great choice of food something for everyone.. Only 1.30 hours by train from Barcelona sants station and a 5 minute walk to hotel from train stop. All in all a great place to de stress from the fast pace of life.. We have stayed 5 times at this hotel now. Wouldn't book anywhere else.

Overall, a nice hotel. Lovely decor and helpful staff. We had a beautiful view of the beach from our room. The room, however was not adequately stocked with towels. Had to ask for towels, bath robe and iron which I thought were standard in a 4 star hotel.

Modern Hotel
This is a hotel which has been full every time I've stayed and is now starting to show signs of wear in the rooms. Small things like hinges on furniture grout between tiles. Overall the hotel is still a great place and no children running about is a huge plus. Staff are fantastic throughout. Didn't book for next year because of the uncertainty in Catalonia. Was a victim of strikes and protests in October 2017. Will be back if this problem is sorted

Junior Suite is Superb
Had a super time with my partner here. It is definitely worth it to upgrade to the junior suite. The view of the beach is beautiful. Coffee machine and mini bar drinks are free to use in the junior suite.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. Entertainment varied. A bit of everything, from flameco to singing artists. Good choice of breakfast. Lunch and dinner varied. However hot food could have been hotter. Cold veg pizza ect not so tasty, dissapointing. Maybe that could be reviewed and improved. However one would not go hungry. Plenty of choice.

Stylish, comfy beach-front hotel with great staff
Very pleased we chose this hotel. From the welcome (with glass of cava & chocolate) to check-out we found all the staff very friendly & helpful. Room was lovely with comfy beds & great shower, towels changed daily. Couldn't fault the breakfast - wide choice & the freshly cooked eggs or omelettes were lovely (as was the freshly squeezed orange juice with cava!). Ideal spot on the beach and for access to Santa Susanna or Malgrat train stations (train line runs along the coast from Barcelona to Blanes). Lots of shops close by & a street market on Tuesdays but we used it as a base for exploring other areas such as Blanes which is just a few minutes away by train and where you'll find the stunning Marimurtra Botanic Gardens and lots of fish restaurants. We enjoyed the cocktails in the bar each evening, the bar staff were very friendly. Very reasonable prices too. We would have liked to have made use of the big day beds and the beach bar but sadly the weather was more British than Spanish during our stay. Would recommend the hotel for its high standards, child-free status & the location - we would like to return when it's warmer!

Small Hotel by the beach
Having read good reviews on Trip Advisor I booked this Hotel for a 4 day break. The room was large with a well proportioned bathroom and excellent shower. The balcony was large with a sea view. The seating in the lounge area and bar are the most uncomfortable I have experienced. The buffet restaurant is very poor, the seating arrangement means you are never more than a few feet from the next table.The food was below my expectations, the salad bar was very limited, the meat on offer was either pork chop or a piece of boney fish cooked while you stand and wait. There was also a joint of meat which the chef carved for you. The first night it was Beef which was inedible, it was so tough I had to tell the waiter to take it away. The next night it was turkey. As the chef was carving, blood was oozing from the carcase, the chef could not understand why I turned it down. When ordering a drink in the bar it is essential to look at the tarif. I made the mistake on arrival of ordering two gin and tonics in the beach bar and was served expensive gin costing 16 euros, needless to say I did not frequent that bar again. These negatives I have mention adversely affected my stay. Will I stay again? NO!

Clean, modern rooms with very comfortable beds. Lack of a shelf in the bathroom. Towels were small, old and thin which you wouldn't expect from a hotel of this standard. Food was excellent for both quality and choice. Would definitely return here.

A week in the sun
Third time to stay here. The hotel has maintained the same standards as on the first stay. Comfortable rooms although the cleaners gets a little lazy as the week goes by. Great food although the restaurant has a slight canteen feel about it. Good selection of wines at reasonable prices Staff are very efficient. Car parking €10 per day. Bit high but secure. Will be back.
