This is a fantastic hotel. We highly recommend it for a stay in Cortona. The hotel parking is fantastic, and the building is most interesting. But, above all it is the staff who are exceptionally good. So helpful and knowledgeable—really an amazingly good experience, right in the heart of the old city.

Parking is hard to find at the base and it’s 30euros at the property. From the parking to the hotel is a steep up hill walk.

Charming Place
The staff was very helpful and cheerful. Our large room worked well for 3 people. The location was perfect - just a. few steps (albeit up hill) to the main square in Cortona.

Great Location for your stay
Perfect location for your stay in Cortona. The staff was friendly and welcoming. Room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good and plenty to choose from. Would definentitly stay there again.

Staff are excellent, 5 stars. The age of the hotel combined with location and lack of amenities only rates two stars. The quaintness and historical significance rates 5 stars. However, beds were super hard, there was no coffee in the room and the shower (no tub) was the size of something in an RV. Our suite could only be accessed by stairs, managing our own luggage, and another we toured had the bathroom up a set of stairs inside the suite. Ask before you book. The tub suite is unique, must verify this is what you booked. Streets around are very steep and narrow. Parking in the hotel garage (recommended) is limited to 2 or 3 cars. Pre book this if you want it. Breakfast was OK but go early if you want hot food. Will try a different hotel next time.

The restored palace was lovely. The staff explained the history. Breakfast was excellent too. Housekeeping was excellent. Everyone seemed happy working at this hotel. They really made my 5 night stay enjoyable. Will definitely suggest to my Italian club in the United States. Grazie

Lovely hotel. Center of Old Town Cortona, in historic building. Room was spacious, tall ceilings, quiet. Great 18th century decor. Great price for the room. Breakfast was delicious.

The Hotel San Michele is a comfortable, quiet, and friendly hotel in Cortona. You are far from the crowds of over-eager tourists within the walls of your room, tastefully decorated in Renaissance-style furnishings. The daily breakfast service, if you choose to purchase, was varied and abundant with both traditional Italian items like cornetti and crostata, as well as American/British and German-breakfast staples (like American coffee, eggs, bacon, sausage, charcuterie, and meusli). The hotel's staff is courteous, helpful and attentive to guests. I was assisted with both tourist inquiries and with hiring a driver* to another city. (The reception desk associate even managed to snag me a decent price.)

Would absolutely stay here again.
Request a room with a view and received just that. I had one of the loveliest of rooms in the hotel with two amazing window views of the town. Working air conditioning. Spacious. Clean. Bathroom tub/shower would be tricky for those with limited mobility. Very close to Cortona city center. Arrange a taxi to pick you up from the train station ahead of arrival and departure. No car needed.

Very good stay
The location is very good. Near the free public parking and near the city center. It is an old Palazzo with hostorical and artisticbinterior deco. There is a big sitting room just like in a palace. The staffs work really hard to provide good service. They emailed me a doc with tourist info before hand. On the day of our arrival, front desk called me and emailed the info about parking and loading luggage. The next day, he guided my husband to park the car at their garage for laoding luggage. The breakfast is good, order to serve. There is drinking water in the lobby, convenient and eco friendly. Very impressed. Strongly recommend.

Hotel San Michele exceeded our expectations! Our room was beautiful, comfortable and clean! The hotel is unique and you will have to stay here to see how beautiful it is! The bathroom was spacious and updated with everything you need. The bed was the most comfortable of all our stays and the pillows were perfect! The staff was amazing. They spoke English to us, helped us arrange taxis and took care of all our needs. The breakfast was abundant and very good! I highly recommend Hotel San Michele to anyone who is looking for comfort, convenience and an affordable stay.
