Is this a hotel or B&B. The hotel is absolutely fine for a night stop. However, a couple of small issues. Lack of showers. Only one in the hotel for 12 rooms and one ‘bath’ room. Toilets there are three, but not en-suites. Breakfast was full English.

Worst hotel experience I ever had in my life. I’m not sure they were staff or owner of the hotel seemed owner, they were so so rude, people like them still exist in uk. They don’t even want to talk to us, whenever we need their help about the hotel, the car park was horrible. I don’t want to recommend people to go there and have such a horrible experiences. 0 out of 5

The Countryman Hotel,Camelford
We really enjoyed our stay..The Countryman Hotel was clean and welcoming..a home from home..our en-suite room provided all we needed for ‘our base’..The owners n staff were all very friendly. It was perfectly situated for everything we had planned for our stay and the price was very good.

The staff were very helpful especially recommending Fish & Chips and watching the sunset. Room was newly decorated, but lacked glasses and the bottom sheet was too small.

Clean & good size breakfast. But wasn’t told what was on offer? Just asked what we wanted? We were in a room at the top of the house, where if you didn’t duck you would bang your head. Shower only gets hot water in the morning, tried to have a shower in the evening & the water was cold. A few steps to climb with luggage to car park. Pleasant hosts who are trying hard to make improvements.

The Countryman was one of the few hotels left with room on a busy August period. The welcome and service was good from the hosts and the room was comfortable but the decor was a little dated. It is well situated for exploring the North Cornwall area and fine as a base.

The staff was very unkind to us. They made some mistakes by giving other guests the wrong rooms and to other guests. We were very cold from cycling through soaking rain the whole day and they didn't want to give is a room just so we could get a warm shower. Also the place has a hospital atmosphere. Not all a cosy B&B.

Fabulous b & b with a super couple
I stayed at this b & b for 1 night for a training course in Bodmin. On arrival I was greeted by the owners Deborah & Michael who were warm & welcoming. I was upgraded from a single to a double room with an en-suite which was amazing. My room was lovely, clean and the bedding smelt of fresh linen. I was asked what time I would like breakfast, which was served with the best poached egg on toast I’d had. Can’t say enough about this super b & b & the hard working owners. I would recommend this gem as a stopover or a longer holiday in Camelford. Thanks again for looking after me & I wish you all the best & will definitely stay again if I need more training in Bodmin.

Pleasant stay.
Mick was very cordial and helpful. The room was clean, breakfast was good. The 4 pm check-in threw us off a bit. We arrived in Camelford around 2 and couldn’t get into the hotel. There isn’t much of anything in the town and Boscastle was too far for just two hours. We found a car park and walked around in the rain until we found the Masons’s Arms. It was a nice pub with good food, we killed the 2 hours there.

Countryman Hotel Camelford
Michael the owner and man with many hats and duties about the Countryman Hotel was a really nice chap and very helpful and knowledgeable about the area. Very comfortable lounge with well stocked shelves full of local maps and interesting things to do. Excellent breakfast in large eating room. Would be nice with a well stocked bar and options for dinner but I do understand that even fantastic Michael can't do all that aswell

Nice hotel. Central location
We had a lovely couple of nights here. There is only the owner but the room was comfotable and the breakfast was very good. The bed was great. I would recommend The Countryman Hotel.

Warning
The current owner is going through a difficult time. He has my sympathy, but guests should not suffer as a result. Something needs to change for this to be sustainable and to avoid giving guests a bad impression of Camelford. Expedia and prospective guests be aware.

Outdated and not worth the money. Hotel is on the market to be sold, so no updates to rooms or bathrooms are planned. Hotel is a mess in my opinion and after checking in and being shown to my room, I de used there and then that I would either drive the 8 hours home or find another hotel, regardless of the cost..

Good Value Hotel
A large rather dated hotel with ample parking, within a 5 min. walk into town. A very friendly welcome from the owner who was willing to give advice of where to go in the area. My room was dated (60's decor) but clean with a very comfortable bed and tea & coffee making facilities supplied. This room had a large ensuite with both bath & shower although some other rooms have a shared bathroom. For breakfast there is a good choice of cereals and the host cooks a great full English breakfast. Recommended the Mason's Arms pub for a meal and drinks and was not disappointed with a large selection of ales and ciders. Overall I found this a pleasant place to stay and would use again.

Really nicely located, easy to find and an easy drive to amazing locations. Just a shame that the shower only did scalding or freezing, had to have a bathe the second day. Guy who runs the place really friendly and helpful.

the hotel looked dated and unkempt. although my bedding smelt clean it wasn't quiet dry . so i slept in a damp bed all night. i didn't complain.
