The hotel is set in a beautiful location and with lots of facilities on site. We booked our stay as we were attending a wedding taking place at the hotel. We were pleased to find a super king bed in our room as opposed to the advertised double on the website. The room was clean and decorated to a high standard, with fresh milk for tea and coffee making! However, we did not feel that the room represented good value for money considering that we had been placed next to the lift at the rear of the hotel, yet the price was only marginally less than a sea view room. The check in and out times seemed unreasonable as we had to leave the wedding (that began at 2pm) to check in at 3.30pm. Check out the following day was at 10.30 am, however you could pay an additional fee to extend it if desired. At this price point, I would have expected to have the room for 24 hours! All in all, the hotel is a lovely place and decorated in a specific eco-friendly, Orla Kiely style and I would like to return however I couldn't justify spending the same amount as a week in france on 3 nights here.

"More than we expect. I would recommend."
We grab the offer and spent one night there. Very clean and comfortable room for fair price. Stuff were friendly. Prices in restaurant seems to me bit higher, but when you compare with prices around the place, they were in average level. More then we expect and I would definitely recommend this hotel.

"I was expecting more"
I indicate hotel facilities as disappointing due to 2 main reasons: seagulls woke me up at 5.15 AM, I understand these are protected animals, however, if travelling for business purposes quietness is paramount. The entrance to the hotel is quite hilly, I was dragging my suitcase all over and there are no lifts, even though couple of staff offered assistance, they could have been more attentive to that as I got a single room on top floor.

"Excellent B & B with 2 issues"
Good location with easy walk to town centre, welcoming owners, clean and comfortable room, excellent breakfast. Issues were difficulty in parking and shower only delivering cold water. I would be happy to go again.

"Don't bother with superior room"
All very good as usual, having stayed before. Paid extra for superior room but disappointing. No different to standard room apart from having a fridge - for £25 extra per night. Stick with standard rooms!

Pocket Guide: Green / Sustainable Hotels in Cornwall

Cornwall is undoubtedly one of the UK's most naturally beautiful counties. The rugged cliffs, idyllic coves and wild, rolling moors are punctuated perfectly by picturesque towns and villages, adding a further level of charm.

With nature's beauty in such abundance, the importance of looking after the environment couldn't be much clearer in Cornwall. Fortunately, there's no shortage of green and sustainable hotels in the county, allowing holidaymakers to get the most from the area while keeping the size of their carbon footprint to a minimum.

An Intimate Stay in Sunny Falmouth

Located on the south coast, Falmouth is one of Cornwall's liveliest towns, but the county's strong laid-back vibe isn't forgotten. Winner of a Silver Green Tourism Award, the Lyonesse Guest House offers guests the chance to check out the popular town without tarnishing their environmental conscience.

The town itself centres around a picturesque harbour, and has a plethora of fine beaches within a short distance. Eco-conscious guests will be glad to learn that just about everything you could need is within walking distance, from vibrant bars and restaurants to the pretty Gyllyngvase Beach.

    No Need to Compromise

If you think picking a hotel with outstanding green credentials means you'll have to compromise on luxury, you're mistaken. There are plenty of hotels in Cornwall which deliver a healthy balance between comfort and conscience.

The Bedruthan Hotel and Spa is located at Mawgan Porth, a small bay on the North Coast. In addition to its eco-friendly credentials, the hotel boasts a whole range of natural spa treatments, as well as a range of cultural events throughout the year.

St Michaels Hotel and Spa offers a similar package on the south coast, offering a full service spa and health club in Falmouth. This green hotel also houses conference space, making it a smart choice for ethical corporate events.

    Rural Green Hotels

As you'd expect, some of the best sustainable hotels in Cornwall have more rural settings. Trenderway Farm is located in the west of the county, near Looe. The B&B offers a five star retreat, where guests are surrounded by tranquil natural beauty and friendly farmyard animals. The Farm has also been awarded a Silver Award for Green Tourism.
