"We had a warm and friendly welcome, helped by our ability to speak French (Paul and Genevieve admit that they have very little English!). Be prepared with provisions and fuel when you arrive as the nearest shops are some distance away and likely to be closed at inconvenient times (for the English at least!). The only road into the village (3 houses!) is long and very narrow, testing the driver's manoeuvring skills in the unlikely event of on-coming traffic. We arrived at the start of Autumn with...

"A beautiful property about a 25 minute walk from the town. The property is well equipped but whilst we were there there was no hot water to the downstairs bathroom or the kitchen (we all had to share one en suite shower)"

"The house is a beautifully restored farm house that is completely equipped with all mod cons plus a few special items like a sauna, fitness machines and a pinball machine. The area is very rural and with many hiking trails in the area."

"The hamlet of Le Mirial was delightful, a truly peaceful away from it all. Madame Albaret, who looks after the keys, was most welcoming and helpful. In fact everyone in the hamlet was friendly. The surrounding countryside is beautiful, with miles of quiet walks. You could not ask for a lovelier Auvergne holiday retreat. Unfortunately the gite itself was a great disappointment. "Parfait pour se retrouver en famille ( même nombreuse !) dans cette très jolie maison ancienne, décorée avec beaucoup de goût, très bien équipée et dont le cadre nous a permis de nous reposer. Située en plein cœur du petit village typique du Cantal, avec une magnifique église à voir juste à côté, les montagnes tout autour et des chemins de promenade qui débutent au pied de la maison.
