Lake Genval is a great spot for walks or to get out on the water. Or you could drive south to Wavre, where the Walibi theme park – one of the most popular in Belgium – is waiting with thrills and spills for all the family. Whilst there, take some time to explore the Medieval heart of Wavre, with its winding streets and selection of independent shops and cafes.
Road Trips in Walloon Brabant
Take a road trip to the lively town of Nivelles, where the Saint-Jacques neighbourhood is a interesting mix of narrow streets to explore before heading out of town to the Villers Abbey, which dates back to the 12th century. A short drive east and you will be in Ottignies-Louvain-la-Neuve, a twin-centred university town with a lively cultural scene, themed walks through the urban environment and a museum dedicated to the artist Hergé, creator of the world famous Tintin comic books. Don’t miss the Artworks in the City walk through the town, created by the local tourism office.
