"Good, solid hotel"
We chose this hotel for its location near the Como San Giovanni railroad station, and because it is one of the more affordable yet good-quality hotels in this expensive resort town.
The room was clean, spacious, and comfortable enough to meet our needs. The bathroom was also clean and spacious with a bidet, toilet, sink, and a shower that's larger than one typically encounters in Europe.
Breakfast was included with our room, and as excellent. The offering included an ample supply of fresh pastries, cereal, bread, milk, juice, coffee and tea, yogurt, fresh fruit, meats and cheeses. Quite the excellent breakfast to start the first full day of our trip!
The front desk staff was friendly and efficient, and we appreciated their advice on an evening meal after we got settled in our room.
When we arrived in our room, we mistakenly thought there was a problem with the room lights, as only one of the room's light fixtures turned on. This was disconcerting until the front desk explained that Italian hotel rooms are equipped with an energy savings feature. Basically, one's keycard needs to be inserted in a device inside the room to activate most of the room's light fixtures. Good idea, as the guest can't leave the room's lights on when they're absent, but this was our first introduction to this feature.
Once we asked the friendly front desk staff about the room's lights, we learned about the energy savings feature, and were ready for it at all our later hotel stays in Italy.
