I loved the location of the hotel it was very good. Room was quite nice. When ever we come back to Devon we might stay in this hotel in future.

A gem near Bideford
We'd been looking forward to our stay ever since we booked it and were eagerly counting off the days, hours and minutes. It lived up to our expectations and then some - a perfect location for a nice quiet break away. The staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfasts were excellent.

Absolute perfection
Fabulous hotel. Amazing, private location, delicious breakfast, family-owned and super friendly. Absolutely perfect. I normally have a rule of not visiting the same place twice but this is one hotel I will break that rule for.

Great Hotel, nice owners & a lovely location
Small hotel with bags of history, which has largely been beautifully refurbished. Always work in progress in guess. Lovely owners did make us feel welcome, and service always with a smile! Stunning location, only let down a little by the distance noise from the road bridge over the river into Bideford.

Lovely hotel in a beautiful area with a very warm welcome. Decor is a little on the... chintzy side, but it has it's appeal :) Wifi coverage wasn't great, but that's about the only bad thing I could say about the place - would love to go back!

Lovely hotel but no longer has a restaurant.
Lovely hotel and owners but beware, there is now no restaurant although the breakfasts are excellent. This is not a great issue but worth knowing about about before you go. Local restaurants are abundant and the two we went to in Apple fore were excellent and sensibly priced.

It is hard to imagine a more pleasant stay.. I travel a lot and this hotel is right at the top of the list when it comes to a caring management team. Lots of attention to detail from the owner-managers, who were warm and welcoming from start to finish. Highly recommended.

The Best Hotel in the area by a long way
A perfect hotel for a rest. Stunning gardens, amazing views, excellent service and owners who really care about giving you a great break. Ilona is a beautiful hostess who ensures your visit is just perfect for you. Breakfasts are wonderful. I love everything about the place, perfect location, easy walks from the hotel and within a mile of both Bideford and Westward Ho!

Quiet and relaxing
Lovely location and extremely helpful manager and staff who went out of their way to ensure our stay was enjoyable. We booked the Crows Nest which had a little terrace overlooking the garden and river which, with good weather, would be wonderful. Don't book this room if you're not good with stairs as there are two flights to manage to get to your room. Also note there is no shower, only a bath.

Small, friendly country house in beautiful setting
We were made welcome by our hosts John and Ylona from the moment we arrived. The hotel is in a lovely setting, with its own gardens, and views over the river estuary. It is possible to walk along the Coast Path, towards either Bideford or Appledore, starting from a gate at the bottom of the garden. It didn't take long for the place to feel like home. We hadn't realised when making the booking that the hotel has no restaurant for an evening meal, but we needn't have worried, there were lots of places to eat within 5-10 minutes' drive. We liked the Royal Plaice in Appledore, the Taj Mahal in Bideford, and the Pig on the Hill in Westward Ho!, and the hotel provides an extensive list of places to suit all tastes, based on guests' feedback. We usually finished the evening back in the hotel bar, sharing a relaxing drink and chatting with our hosts and our fellow guests. Next morning, we would get up to an excellent breakfast. Our room was very quiet, comfortable and well-equipped, with a good-sized bath and shower.

A gorgeous place to stay.
This was a lovely and special place to stay. The owners and staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Special thanks to Ilona who gave our dog a sausage every morning and a surprise treat for us on our anniversary. Thanks also to John who looked after us in the bar until late every night. They really could not have made us and our dog feel more welcome. The room was fabulous too. We really can't praise it too highly.

Comfortable stay
We thought that it was unusual for a hotel not to offer a restaurant service and spoke to the owners about this. Car parking is limited so could not accommodate guests as well as diners. not a major issue as there are lots of pubs and restaurants inn the area, although not within walking distance. Otherwise it is a very good place to stay, great service and a lovely view over the river.

We asked for the heating to be turned on, and they did so immediately. Friendly and helpful proprietors. We celebrated our wedding anniversary, and attended the induction of the new pastor at Westward Ho Baptist Church.

Quiet hotel in lovely location
Enjoyed stay at hotel although only there overnight for 3 days has out till late evening doing activities. Would use this hotel again has good location in North Devon with easy road access and pleasant staff and owners, nothing was too much trouble for them. We loved the quiet location, gardens, good river views, easy safe parking, nearby walking & cycling trails. There was a bar in hotel we could have used in evenings if we wanted to but often we preferred to eat out around the area wherever we finished the day's activities.
