Very happy with room, really comfortable & clean. Only disappointment was waiting to order once seated in restaurant, 30 minutes & waiting for bill after meal, food was excellent though. We had a hotel gift voucher for an anniversary present, beware these can only be used once, so any amount left cannot be saved.
Not easily found and almost impossible without sat nav. we had to ring for instructions. Being disabled was the main reason we opted for this hotel only to find all bar one taken by idle ignorant able bodied drivers.
These were about the only down points of this hotel.

The staff were very welcoming, cheerful and efficient. The hotel is in a good location for the town.

Picked pretty much at random for a birthday weekend, and it couldn't have been a better choice. We had a lovely room, properly dark at night, with a comfy bed, and decent shower. The staff were really friendly, there was a great roaring fire, some good beer, and the food was excellent. Plus the village had a good little second-hand bookshop and an interesting church which kept us amused on a lazy Saturday morning.
Very helpful owners and room was excellent as was the full English breakfast.
Only minus point was trying to find the place, Expedia put address as "Mill lane, Colchester"
There are however three "Mill lanes" in Colchester!! Needless to say I tried the other two first and was driving around for a good hour. My satnav doesn't work with postcodes.
