Hotels.com allowed us to make this booking when this hotel has gone into liquidation a while ago, very disappointing to travel 1 hour and half to get their and its closed. No one to let us know before hand.
Absolutely love this place and would not hesitate to recommend it to others.the rooms are beautiful, the food is sensational, and it’s situated in stunning scenery. 5 stars all round, already looking to book for Christmas Day
Good stay however a few niggly points , the corner of the room floor near the bed head was dusty looking and a different shade to the rest of the wood flooring that is hoe I noticed it and also the pillows were not as comfy as I was hoping. No feeling as with other hotels as being as soft as air! I was disappointed as to the portions of the evening meal my meal came not as warm as expected and the sponge desert which looked as though it had just been taken out of a plastic container because of its shape was tasteless. Just a few points that could be improved before my next visit.
This was a nightmare, we were created by hundreds of flies on entranceway to the bedroom, also flies in the bedroom. The net curtain and window was filthy dirty. The bedroom was dirty, the breakfasts took ages to arrive. HORRID experience
Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent and well presented. Overall we both loved our stay at the Assheton Arms. Thank you.
Love this awesome gastro pub with rooms. I have stayed here whenever I am on business in the area.
Love the food as all home cooked and fabulous. The menu changes regularly and specials are always available. The bedrooms are a mix of modern but super cosy too.The customer service is always excellent. Look forward to my next stay.
Excellent stay, comfortable bedroom with a fantastic shower room (and bath). Cooked breakfast was lovely and hot but I’ve never seen a better breakfast buffet table with fresh strawberries, raspberries and blueberries.
The position would be brilliant had the weather been better.
The room was excellent modern and comfy. I felt that the bar area needed more sitting area where you could just have a drink instead of being taken the table straight away. Food good.
Amazing place to stay and also visit. Just wish I had gone there earlier. The exec room was devine, as was food. Just a shame that breakfast is served later than the normal hotels, but then this was normal hotel.
You could even sleep with the windows open it was so peaceful.
Great village for walking and hiking.
Would definitely recommend and stay there again if, and when I am in the area.
Having been bought vouchers for a meal at the Assheton Arms, we decided to book a nights accommodation as well. Everything was lovely! All the staff were friendly, welcoming and very professional. Our room was spotless, very comfortable and lovely views across Pendle Hill. The food was excellent, high quality ingredients perfectly cooked. Downham a very pretty village with close access to country walks and Clitheroe.
I stayed at the Assheton Arms whilst on business. Stunning location in a gorgeous village. I had a fabulous room set in a converted cottage with an awesome slate tiled bathroom and walk in shower. The menu was brilliant and the food to die for. Realised later that it’s the sister pub to another favourite The Derby Arms. Well done guys ! I will will definitely be back .
Only ended up in the Assheton Arms as a result of the M6 closure, great find, beautiful setting, great food, definitely a notch up on pub food, and really comfortable room, bathroom immaculate, will definitely return for a weekend,
Stunning location. Beautiful pub. Lovey food - but be prepared to wait! Rooms were very comfortable and in places wonderfully updated and modernised. Would definitely return.
The hotel is in the middle of a stunning landscape and several hiking paths. The staff was very friendly but you have to get used to the british humor. In the 5 Person room one bed was only a very soft fold out couch which is not suitable for a longer stay more than a weekend. The other beds were very good and comfortable. Good parking possibilities in the evening. During the day you have to be lucky because the Ashton arms is known for its good kitchen. Hence, the breakfast was very good. All together very satisfied.
Rooms are lovely and spacious with fantastic bathrooms but awfully hot at night. Soap was missing in bathroom. A mini fridge and safe would be appreciated.
Food is ok, staff in general were pleasant apart from one extremely rude member of staff who behaved so appallingly that we walked out during breakfast. Upon checkout we mentioned to the manager and they gave us a gesture of goodwill which made up for the heanous behaviour.
