"A genuinely lovely hotel which felt like being at home. The owner is really passionate about Calabria and always happy to help and provided some great recommendations. The beds are comfortable and the rooms are spotless. The breakfast is also superb. Special thanks to Noelia who is an absolute asset to the hotel."

"Just liked this place! From the first sight! super friendly owner, real great parking area, very quite indeed. Breakfast was mostly cooked by hostess, very fresh, not a chance to even taste all of those. No restaurant on site, but the village was quite near and makes sense to take a walk to restaurant, as the streets are really narrow there for driving, scratched my big car´s mirror to the wall. "

"We received a very warm welcome and assistance for parking my car and took our luggage from the car to our room. The room was outstanding clean and the largest room in our month long stay in Italy. It is a true castle we felt like a king and queen. "

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Civita?
The best area to stay in Civita is within the historic centre itself, especially around the main piazza or along the pedestrian-friendly cobblestone streets. This area is the heart of the village, characterised by its traditional stone houses and narrow alleys that wind through the dramatic landscape of the Raganello Gorges. The main piazza offers a central point for local life, often with a small church and a few eateries. Staying here means you're right in the middle of Civita's special environment. For couples looking for a romantic escape, staying in one of the historic guesthouses within the old town is perfect. You'll be within easy walking distance of the Belvedere, offering breathtaking views of the "Ponte del Diavolo" (Devil's Bridge) and the canyon. The evenings are quiet, allowing for relaxed strolls and enjoying local cuisine.Travellers interested in exploring the natural beauty of the Pollino National Park will also find the historic centre convenient.
When is the best time to go to Civita?
The best time to go to Civita is during the spring (April to June) or autumn (September to October) when the weather is pleasant for exploring and the crowds are smaller.Spring offers mild temperatures, great for hiking the unique Raganello Gorges and enjoying the budding wildflowers. The days are long enough for sightseeing, and you'll find the local restaurants and shops open without being overwhelmed by visitors. This period is ideal for couples seeking a peaceful escape with opportunities for outdoor activities.Autumn also provides comfortable weather, with cooler temperatures and the stunning colours of the changing foliage in the surrounding Pollino National Park. This season is excellent for those interested in local culture and gastronomy, as it often coincides with harvest festivals in nearby villages. Solo travellers will appreciate the tranquil atmosphere and the chance to engage with local traditions. While Civita is accessible year-round, July and August can be quite hot and see more domestic tourists, making it a bit busier.
