Love to spend the WE in San Francisco and to visit the city . Always something to discover, even after 11 years living in the bay area.
After visiting Chinatown for Chinese new year celebration we visited Coit Tower , absolutely recommended on a clear day . Above providing a spectacular 360 ° over San Francisco, it also offers beautiful murals about California history and life all over the 1st floor . Definitely deserves a visit .

The Nob Hill Motor Inn is a fine choice if you are on a tight budget. While the hotel is ideal for those travelling in a car and need convenient parking during their stay in San Francisco, do not expect anything fancy. The room I stayed in was clean, but a dated and worn. A bit noisy and, though you are close to Van Ness and Polk streets, there are not many restaurants or coffee shops nearby. The "continental breakfast" is a bit of a stretch (basically coffee, donuts, a few croissants and wrapped pastries) but it allows you to save in an expensive city like San Francisco. Close to cable-cars and buses.

We picked this hotel because of the price tag. Overall we were happy with our choice: clean room and public areas, easy check in and check out, hairdryer and ironing board and free wifi, quiet room, breakfast included, only 8 blocks or so walk to Union Square. Downsides were that the breakfast food didn't contain much nutritional value, and the shower was not very powerful. As it is in Tenderloin, be prepared for a sketchy walk depending on the route you take. We found a great deli / market store on O'Farrell/Polk near to the hotel that did great bagels and salads called Bread and Butter Market and Deli if you need to substitute your breakfast or buy lunch on your way out to the City.
