We enjoyed the wine reception in the late afternoon. The lobby is a social place. The restaurant on the first floor is very good and unlike most hotel restaurants is very reasonably priced.
We had to change rooms the first night because the heat did not work, they were very nice and helpful making the change. A minor inconvenience.
It is a fun neighborhood to explore, some nice bars and restaurants in walking distance. Parking was $39/night.

The hotel was conveniently located making it easy to get around with little or no driving. Since I drove up to San Francisco the free parking was very helpful, allowing me to park my car and leave it for the remainder of my trip. The staff were very friendly and helpful, which was much appreciated when there was a problem with my reservation (namely they didn't receive my reservation from Expedia). The room was comfortable and clean. The free wi-fi had a great signal, strong enough to stream Netflix.

I like how it conserved the old building. I thought the elevator was pretty cool. You can hear people and cars on the street but I can sleep through most stuff, so after the first night I got used to it. The shared bathroom and shower was alright, not really bad. I had a sink in my own room so that was good. The staffs were nice. Except the location being in the sketchy area, the hotel itself is pretty nice. I got what I paid for so I was pleased staying in this hotel. If you don't want to pay over $200 a night this hotel could work. But if you like walking, you might want to pay more money for better location. Since the hotel is not too far from the piers, taking uber is not expensive and BART station is close, so you can go to the airport for less than $10.
