A nice hotel, but parking needs clarification

Posted 04-Aug-2015
Overall, this was a very nice hotel. Easy check-in, friendly staff, nice room and facilities, and the only hotel over our two weeks in Italy that actually had a "coffee-maker" in the room! The rate was reasonable; very low city tax; great location close to shopping; less than 1K to the train station (access to Cinque Terre), and right beside the Castle San Giorgio. My only qualm would be the advertisement of "free parking," which implies they have parking reserved for hotel guests. This is not really the case. The parking is free, and there are a handful of "reserved" spots in front of the hotel, but a very small number indeed. The rest of the road is simply free visitor parking for anyone visiting the city. Most of our stay this worked out just fine, (i.e., we were able to find a spot) but if you are out for the day (like we were) returning late, and the street is full, there is really nothing the hotel can do except advise you to drive around until a spot opens up or recommend a garage for the night at a 15 Euro fee. Again, not a big deal, but it would have been nice to know this in advance. Overall though, this was one of the better hotels we visited in Italy.

In the middle of La Spezia.

Posted 16-Jul-2015
Pros: spotless room and helpful staff. Breakfast was varied and substantial. Happy hour in the early evening.
Cons: I booked through Expedia and the hotel telephone is inaccurate. This should be corrected.
Location: Lively piazzas nearby: the non-commercial part of the port is beautiful. La Suprema is excellent restaurant & close. Santa Margherita is a must see
It's about a 10-15 minute walk to the train station (part of it uphill); the room was spotless and the staff polite and helpful. Location is very good as it is in the heart of La Spezia with very good restaurants, shopping and piazzas all around which are lively and give a true taste of local life.

good location

Spent 3 days here and can't say enough about the location. Located just off the main pedestrian street and close to tons of resturants and shopping. A short walk to the train station so easy to get to Cinque Terre. The elevator is a little tired and over worked.....take the stairs.

The hotel is in a great location and is an easy walk from the train station. The check-in and check-out processes were very easy. All staff spoke English and were very helpful. The hotel and rooms were clean, although the room they registered us for had ants. We reported those immediately and were upgraded to a suite. The temperature was somewhat difficult to adjust, but by the second night we were comfortable. The beds are harder than I prefer but the room was quiet. The wifi did not work on the 7th floor. Breakfast was very good.

"Ladestajon" for vandring i Cinque Terre

Posted 02-May-2015 on Hotels
