We opted for this hotel due to its appropriate prices, proximity to the city centre and general good reviews. We were delightfully amazed by the level of professionalism when handling difficult clients (my mother can be a bit much to handle at times :P) and their patience in doing so. We were given a room on the eighth floor overlooking KL, however, the view was a tad obstructed by the older colonial part of the hotel. The bathroom has an inbuilt television which was useful to an extent. The swimming pool was on the small side but adequate. Understandably, the hotel is used for conferences and such related activities, however, this did make me feel a bit uncomfortable at times. I also felt a bit uncomfortable when walking into the colonial part of the hotel as it seems to have a rather niche market. Nevertheless, I definitely would visit again.

Situated opposite the old railway station on the historical mile of Jalan Sultan Hishamuddin, The Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur …More
I read lots of previous reviews about this hotel before staying. My experience was very good, and I'll address a few of the points raised in previous reviews.
1. Check-in staff
It was slow. There wasn't a queue, we were seen immediately, but inexplicably it took over 20 minutes waiting before eventually getting out key. Staff seemed confused by the fact the room had been booked and paid for in advance, despite the first thing we did was present our printed Expedia itinerary.
It's Chinatown. Don't come here unless you understand what this almost universally entails. It's chaotic, but for me far better than the sanitised and soul-less tourist areas.
It wasn't gourmet, but it certainly wasn't the tasteless inedible affair I read on other reviews. Perfectly adequate for the cost.
Adjoining room doors are definitely not soundproof. We could hear everything going on in the next room, so a bit of a lottery if you get a party room next door. On the 11th floor, street noise was fine, no problem there. The air con was a little loud but it's a consistent hum that didn't really disturb us.
Ours was clean and modern, everything working and fridge that doesn't go off when you leave the room. Bathroom and beds were all good.
Ultimately, if you're expecting total luxury at this price, you'll be disappointed. If you expect a comfortable stay at reasonable cost in an area with loads of character and great transport links, you'll love it.
I stayed here for only two nights but for longer stays I would recommend the hotel also. Very good amenities, close proximity to major transportation, and right on the train line for the airport which saves a bundle on taxi fees if you are by yourself and have portable luggage. Some major attractions nearby and everything else is accessible by public transport. The room was large enough for two people, very functional and modern. Perhaps tries too hard to be hip, but can be forgiven that. The hotel was very crowded when I was there but still relatively quiet.
Taxi from airport took me to wrong ascot--I did not know there were two facilities. There is Ascot Sentral and then there is the regualar Ascot. The Taxi driver took me to the regular Ascot because the reservation did not have the words "Sentral" in it.
Took me over an hour to get to the correct location at which time it was 3:00 A.M. in morning.
When booking the Ascot the person making the booking needs to know there are two facilities of the same name.
Pocket Guide: Kuala Lumpur Chinatown - Sentral Hotels
Kuala Lumpur's Chinatown is on Petaling Road--a shopper's dream, especially for goods like clothing, watches, and DVDs. Bargaining skills are a must. Highlights in the area include the British Empire shophouse on Jalan Tun HS Lee; the Jamek Mosque; the Masjid Negara National Mosque; Taoist Temple; Sin Sze Si Ya Temple, and the Hindu temple in Tamil style, Sri Mahamariaman. The Kuala Lumpur Sentral is the hub to all major rail system transfers and Kuala Lumpur International Airport.
