We reserved this apartment the day before our stay. The host reached out asking what time we planned to arrive. I responded that we weren't sure of our arrival time, but we would shoot for 3:00pm (the listed check in time).Around 3:15pm the day of our stay, I reached out to the host to let her know we were about 30 min away and I hadn't received the door code. About 15 min later, I received a phone call from a man asking for more information for our stay - that the property management needed to know our occupations. (I had already provided our names and ages, where we were from, and reason for our stay.) I gave him this information.After waiting around until about 4:00pm, I received a message from the host that she was cancelling our reservation due to a leak. We were left in Chicago with nowhere to stay and were forced to spend the next couple of hours looking for a place. It is very difficult to find a last minute place to stay in Chicago for a party of 6\. We ended up driving 45 minutes to a hotel and our evening plans were ruined.The conduct of this host was unacceptable. If there really was a leak, why didn't they discover it at 11:00 when the previous renters checked out and the cleaners showed up? Why did they stall for an hour after check-in and then cancel?
