Save your money and do not book a Lakeview Room. We did and we were very disappointed. The only way you will see the lake is if its a clear day and not rainy, foggy or snowing then you can look straight up Cedar Street and you can see Lake Shore Drive cars driving by and a very small portion of the Lake. We thought it would be great being high enough to see the Lake like other hotels in the area but we were disappointed because we were assigned a room on the 9th floor. I asked when i checked in is that Lakeview room and was told it was. It had a great view of the buildings nearby and traffic noise but not much of a Lakeview. We complained and were re-assigned to a room on the 13th floor still not a lakeview but at least you didn't hear the traffic. The Viceroy may believe its a Lakeview looking up a street to see a tiny sliver of the lake but the majority of people like us wouldn't believe that is a Lakeview especially on the 9th and 13th floor. We checked out and paid for our room in full after 2 days and 2 nights at the Viceroy. The Viceroy sen an email to me adding an additional $32 in room charges for a room we never stayed in. The poor way the billing was handled and the non-Lakeview left us with a sour taste regarding the Viceroy. We will not stay at the Viceroy again too many exceptional hotels nearby with actual Lakeviews and honest billing to stay here again. We will go back to the somerset restaurant next door to the Viceroy but will not stay at the Viceroy.
