Wonderful and friendly staff. Great and safe location. Close to great restaurants, shopping, museums. Would definitely go back!

Cons: More/different food options. Only option for dinner in the hotel was a $60 steak ++ However, it was a great steak.
Super location, great service, exceeded my expectations.

Great hotel, fab location

Stayed here for 3 nights. Hotel staff couldn't be more helpful. Room was clean. Food in restaurant in hotel was great. Great location - easy walking distance to most attractions downtown. Would stay in this hotel again.

Great location, great hotel

I stayed at the James for 4 nights on the 10th floor. The hotel is in the perfect location - on the same block as a Trader Joe's for any snack needs, and tons of restaurants and great shops within very short walking distance. The room was spacious, clean and functional and my room service breakfast was delicious. The only thing that needs improvement is the room condition - nothing horrible but furniture legs looked worn, my central air wall unit kept blowing vent lint onto the mini-couch below it everyday when the fan turned on and my bathroom light switch had a dimmer with a broken off dimmer knob so I had to be careful to turn lights up/down since it was just a tiny stick of plastic sticking out of the light switch. I got used to the worn things after the first day but was surprised they hadn't already fixed those things at such a nice hotel. Again, everything was clean and the bed was very comfy, service and room service was excellent and I will absolutely stay here again - I just hope they fix that dimmer and clean the vent lint trap soon.

My favourite hotel in Chicago...maybe the world!

Pros: Everything!
Cons: It would have been nice if our room hadn't had a noisy vent in it, but I guess that's an architectural flaw that can't be fixed very easily!
Location: The Magnificent Mile is a couple of blocks away, and the rest of the city is easy to get to thanks to being very close to the Grand red line stop.
This was my second stay at The James and it more than exceeded my expectations. There are plenty of great hotels in Chicago, but what sets The James apart is the staff. Everyone is so friendly and helpful, and they seem to have a genuine passion and eagerness to help guests get the most out of their stay. And I really mean everyone - desk staff, housekeeping, room service, the doorman...it really is quite special, and I can't think of another hotel that has made me feel so welcome. My girlfriend and I were upgraded to a studio apartment-style room when we checked in, and it was almost perfect. It was big, the bed was extremely comfortable, the bathroom was great. The only problem was that a vent, presumably for heating and water, made noise constantly. It was pretty loud but we both got used to it and it wasn't bad enough that it warranted a complaint to the staff. But, it was noticeable, especially when trying to sleep. My girlfriend loved the spa, and we both really enjoyed our room service breakfast. A little pricey, maybe, but worth it. In terms of location it's fantastic too. It's a couple of blocks from a red line 'el' stop, and a couple of blocks west of the Magnificent Mile, with most of the other sights of Chicago in easy reach. I really can't recommend The James enough. It's absolutely fantastic and quite possibly my favourite hotel in the world. You won't be sorry if you choose to stay :)

Loved it. I stayed in the Chicago location. There was shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hand soap, lotion already available in the bathroom. There's also a gym which i was sad to hear about upon arrival bc i could have been working out during my stay! There's no mention of it on their site, but it's great. They even had earbuds and cold water in the gym. The room was great and always nice and clean after returning from an outing.

This was my first time in Chicago and first time at the James Chicago. It was great. Staff was very attentive to my needs especially by allowing me to check out late without charge since my flight got delayed. I would come back again
