Love the theme and staff

20's theme is very cool and nice that it is felt throughout hotel. Staff is very friendly and complimentary coffee/tea and happy hour is a great touch. The room was very clean but had a few Knicks here and there in the paint. Bed was super comfortable. No train noise noticed!

Great hotel in the heart of the theatre district!

Our room was beautiful and had a super comfy bed! It was conveniently located to restaurants, shopping, and theatres! The 312 restaurant was superb!

Way too expensive for what you get

Posted 14-Sep-2016
Pros: Quaint, clean, nice staff
Cons: Consider offering room service
Location: In the heart of downtown Chicago
Spent a lot of money for one night in the tiniest hotel room I've ever seen. It was clean and well-furnished, just extremely small. It took all my strength to pull open the closet door, just to find the tiny space crammed with stuff. And the clothes rack was about 3' off the ground so, if you needed to hang dresses or slacks, they'd drag the floor. Definitely would not stay here again.

The hotel was beautiful, the bathroom was a lot smaller than anticipated, and there was one point where I heard a child screaming as if they were in the room, I guess the walls are kind of thin. Overall it was a pleasant experience, I would go back again.

Chic and convenient

This hotel is a gem and close to the Union Station for Amtrak travelers. It has an eye for design and comfort. The happy hour at the bar and the amenities of the lobby make it warm and inviting, in a uniquely decorated space. The room I had was small but well appointed, with a nice selection of toiletries. Will stay again.

close to theater district and also close to shopping/mag mile. Easy to get to CTA/Subway to get around town. Room was very clean and comfortable for a short stay downtown.

Rude Unprofessional Hotel Employees

Posted 15-Aug-2016
We stayed in Kimpton Hotel Allegro for 3 nights. If you like Downtown location, this hotel is a good choice. Unfortunately, tat is the only good thing I have to say about this place. The rooms are small and have very thing walls. You can hear people talking, TV working, dogs barking (dogs are allowed), and everything else that is happening in the adjacent rooms - you are going to be aware of it. If you want a good night sleep after a busy day - forget it! Complimentary coffee being served in the morning, I guess to help with the lack of sleep. Parking is $59.00/day. Internet is extra, and it is not cheap. HOWEVER, the our biggest complain is unprofessionalism of some employees we had to deal with! Security for the hotel is provided by the 3rd party, and it is obvious that security personnel on premises does not care about the image of the hotel. Our encounter with one of the security employees ( his name, we believe was Eugene) ended up in a shouting match! He was rude and disrespectful, and the night shift manager (Raina) only got involved after about 10 min. Before that, she was just watching from the side. We complained at check out to the Manager (Rachael R), and she apologized multiple times for the behavior of the security guard and the Night Shift Manager. To summarize our impression after staying at Kimpton Allegro - good location, but rooms have very little insulation in the walls; if you have a car, be prepared to pay a high parking fee; be ready to pay for the int

Perfect place for my first visit to Chicago!

I LOVED this hotel. it has a cool retro feel to it, but is also cozy. The bar staff were my favorite! Clean and comfy beds and good vibe to the room. Also in the middle of the best spots in town and within walking distance. I was able to check out a bike for free from the hotel to go and explore too. Everyone who writes that the smallest rooms are too tiny, they're not bad at all. And honestly, how much time are you spending in your room anyhow?! Go hang out in the cool rooms downstairs.
