Great location-walked to navy pier, Michigan Ave, restaurants - Breakfast (rare for downtown Chicago) and it was great-much more than just continental - Room-updated, clean, very smart

All-around great stay

Posted 23-Aug-2015
Pros: Comfortable, clean, quiet suite with nice array of amenities. Very friendly and helpful staff. Convenient location.
Location: Walk to Mag Mile, Navy Pier, beach/lake, parks... and across the street from Whole Foods (with a fridge/microwave in the room, oh so convenient!)
Three comfortable nights at this lovely hotel. Would definitely stay here again in the future.

Good hotel, especially for families

Posted 22-Aug-2015
Great location downtown. Walking distance to Michigan Ave and Navy Pier. Good breakfast, which is free. Suites make it great for families!! Cons: my room smelled terrible....like mildew or some chemical. Internet is not free, even wifi. Plan to pay no less than $10 for it.

Great location in the heart of downtown Chicago

Posted 20-Aug-2015
Pros: Cleanliness and location.
Cons: Parking rates are very high compared to Toronto.
Location: Surprisingly safe for a big city. Tour on a double decker, take a scenic walk, grab a hot dog or deep dish pizza. Visit the pier or shop
Great free made to order breakfast and happy hour with free drinks and snacks. Comfortable room, good pool hours. Awesome downtown location. Walking distance to Navy Pier, John Hancock building (Chicago 360), Gino's East, the Water Tower, shopping (the Magnificent Mile and State Street), Millenium Park, Buckingham Fountain and the river walk. All within 5-15 minutes walk. City bus and double decker trolley stops across the street. Sky Deck (Willis/Sears tower) 20-25 minute walk.

Family-friendly hotel near Navy Pier

Posted 17-Aug-2015
Cons: Would have preferred an outdoor pool, and shuttle service to/from the airport.
My son and I stayed here in mid-August and it was packed with other families enjoying their last vacation days before school starts back up. The suites were comfortable, we had a great view of the lake and the Navy Pier fireworks show, and the hotel staff accommodated our request for early check-in when we arrived. The complimentary breakfast was above-average for a hotel, with cooked-to-order omelettes and a wide selection of buffet options, including fruit, cereals, pastries, pancakes, bacon, sausage, juices, coffee, etc. However, the stations were set up in a very confusing way which created a lot of havoc in the morning, with people weaving in and out of different areas and no clear traffic flow. Illinois St. is on the free Navy Pier trolley route and there are CTA bus stops on every corner, with a train station a short walk away. There's also a decent bar/restaurant, a Walgreens, a bowling alley, and a movie theatre on the same block as the hotel, and a Whole Foods across the street—all very convenient if you want to unwind in/near the hotel after a day of sightseeing. Overall, we were happy with our stay and would recommend the Embassy Suites for families looking for a pleasant hotel in this price range.
