In the center of things

Posted 23-Mar-2017
Pros: Location, price
Location: It is close to parks, museums, restaurants, some shopping.
Normally I would choose a newer, modern styled hotel, but this one is in a good location and is reasonably price (for Chicago). The hallways are tall, old, and wide. But the rooms have been updated with new beds, linens, bathrooms. Overall it worked well for us. One of the TVs in 2 rooms did not work properly, but we were so busy that we didn't alert the staff (so I guess we really didn't need it).

Nice hotel

Posted 21-Mar-2017
It was 9 mins away from the United Center so I didn't pay much to get there and back by uber. The hotel wasn't expensive and plus it was the only one I could get because most of the hotels you have to be 21 to get a room and I'm only 20. They do need to update their vending machines though I got a year old pop out. But anyways it wasn't a bad experience staying there for one night.

Classic hotel

Posted 21-Mar-2017
Cons: Although there was a cooling fan in the fitness centre, the heater was on. And I couldn't turn it off! I managed to turn it down, but that was it.
Location: It's a LITTLE far for subway, shopping, etc. I mean, if you enjoy walking and the weather is nice, you'll be fine. But if it's cold, you'll notice
Check in took a little longer than i expected. But overall the hotel, it was old, but had that classic feel. So if you're into new boutique hotels, you're probably not going to like it. Originally I had a queen room for 2 of us. It was very small, I even doubted it was a queen bed. But upon arrival the toilet was running continually. front desk was called and we were offered to wait for a technician or change rooms. We changed rooms and to our delight we got a king upgrade. It was much more spacious and the high ceilings were awesome.

Great location

Posted 21-Mar-2017
Pros: Cleanliness
Cons: I called down to the lobby when I found I DID NOT HAVE A REFRIGERATOR in my room! I was told If I wanted one - I WOULD HAVE TO PAY $10 A DAY!
Location: Hotel is very close to State Street shopping, theaters, the Chicago Art Institute, the double-decker tourist buses, lots of good restaurants also!
I arrived before check in time and the room was ready. That was great. This is a great old hotel and the staff. The room was very comfortable and the view of the lake was idea. Location is great.

Older hotel with minimal amenities for today's traveler. Very few electrial outlets and when phone did not work and hotels response was to suggest changing rooms versus fixing the issue. Nice bar and restaurant

Firm beds, no real temperature control

Posted 18-Mar-2017
The location is really nice and convenient. However, the lack of temperature control and hardness of the beds really let me down. I had the opportunity to be in a newly renovated part of the hotel and it looked like it was put together fast without consideration. Overall I would stay here again but only after looking at similar priced hotels with more comfort.
