"Good location"
Location was close and walking distance to the Willis tower, cloudgate (the bean), state st. (Full of stores) and other restaurants. Some of the rooms are very small. We were assigned room 1030 and it was extremely small, we called and they were nice enough to move us to another room a little bigger a few hours later after it had been cleaned. So be mindful of that. Otherwise, staff and location is great.

"Lovely hotel in downtown Chicago"
The Central Loop, one half of a set of conjoined hotels (the Club Quarters Hotel is the other) is a clean, well-updated hotel (although renovations were still in process when I stayed there, so it will be even nicer soon), well situated in downtown Chicago, about halfway between the river and Centennial Park. Its easy walking distance to several attractions, including The Lyric Opera, the French Market, Cloud Gate and the Art Institute. While the building itself is older, the rooms are clean and modern, with comfortable beds, big windows and well-designed bathrooms with granite countertops. The staff is knowledgable and eager to help, whether when recommending restaurants or lending me a charging cable for my phone. I've very happy to have stayed at the Central Loop, and would do so again without hesitation.

"Too bad they'll be closed all summer"
The window full of work permits should have been a tip-off, but it wasn't. I learned from the hotel staff they were closing March 1, 2017 for at least six months of renovations. All of them were looking for work. You couldn't tell they weren't going to be there forever from the gracious way every single member of the staff treated guests. I had a problem adjusting the room temperature -- it was 90 F. -- and they fixed it literally five minutes after I asked for help. I needed to run an errand the morning I checked out and the day manager offered to keep my suitcase behind her counter until I returned. I never asked -- she made the offer. The housekeeping staff all were equally pleasant and helpful. It'll be interesting to see what changes the new ownership makes because the lighting, plumbing, heating and security all worked perfectly. There were a few cosmetic details in terms of tiling adjacent to the bathroom door, and the elevator was extremely slow, but otherwise it was a perfectly pleasant place. Unlike most Red Roof Inns, they even had coffee makers in every room -- a big deal for people like me who don't do mornings well without coffee.

"Get over the disturbing view... great location!"
Yes, the location is perfect, as long as you don't mind being directly across the street from the giant TRUMP sign on the phallic-shaped tower. Our river-view window looked out over the river, yes. And it was a lovely view, including sunset over the Chicago river looking west. Simply lovely. As long as we didn't look straight ahead. Our room was great. This was not the room we were initially assigned (that one was right at the elevators) and when I requested another room far away from the elevators (I'm a very light sleeper), the young gentleman at the front desk was very accommodating and polite. The restaurant just off the hotel lobby, Bella Bacino's, was really special and seemed to be frequented by locals, always a good sign. And though I'm not a Trump fan, his giant building with the giant letters helped guide us home no matter how far away we had wandered in our walking this wonderful city. I'm aware that Club Quarters is a world-wide chain of boutique hotels, but still... the owners of this sweet hotel in this wonderful block of Chicago surely were unhappy (as were the majority of Chicagoland residents) when these hideous letters were erected across the river from them. As I got pretty good deal on Expedia for this quality hotel, I'm betting the damned letters have hurt their business quite a bit. So please support this hotel! It's a great place, truly.

"Roomy large double suite / horrible mattresses"
I rented the large double room suite and was pleased with the size of the room. I was very disappointed with the "Queen" sized bed as I was shocked to find that it was really just two twin mattresses zipped together. The bed was way too firm and the split down the middle with the mattresses being zipped together was annoying. The bed was only just slightly preferable to sleeping on the floor. The full sized mattress in the other bedroom was equally as firm and uncomfortable. The room and bathrooms were clean but the sofa bed couch and chair in the living room area appeared to be on the old side. There was only one chair to accompany the dining table in the room. The hotel is in a great location but I would pass on a second stay.

"Not too shabby"
Very nice staff. However the lobby is very deceiving because as soon as you head up the elevator you can see how outdated the hotel is. Small rooms as well, there was not enough space to fit two luggage open and walk around.
