Business in the Central Loop
As an employee of a midsized municipality I had a very limited room and board budget for travel, yet I had business in the Central Loop (downtown) Chicago. After a search I found Club Quarters. Club Quarters isn't quite 4 stars, but is better than 3.
The club rooms are 'cozy' but not claustrophobic. The bed was very comfortable and clean. The bathroom was a bit small, but clean and had the basics required. Soaps/ towels well stocked everyday. There was no mini-fridge or safe in the room. The wi-fi internet was easy to connect to and fairly fast. A 32-40 inch tv rounded it out. Plenty of room in the closet for 1-2 people, and the thermostat was programmable.
There is a small, but clean and bright gym, and lounge style room in the lower level. There was also business space. An Elephant and Castle and Starbucks are on the lobby level and are very convenient.
The location is central to everything in the loop. The Willis Tower (Sears) was two blocks in one direction, the Fed two blocks in another, and the Chicago Board of trade a block away. The iconic Berghoff, and many other dinin was only a block and a half away. My business was only 1.5 blocks away. The Blue line and Red line are both very close and convenient as well.
I would highly recommend this hotel as a great central loop value for anyone travelling on a budget for business, or for a clean well maintained no frills location for vacation exploring central Chicago.
