"5 stars all around but the most miserable stay hav"
Not too many five star ratings with a miserable stay. But it was two days of 7°C and our room was on the end 3408 I think it was it was so cold in there we could see our breath. But I still give the hotel a five stars they try their best.

"Perfect place for tranquil peaceful getaway"
First time to Chiang Rai, and chose this hotel based on Expedia and Tripadvisor ratings and reviews.. Once arriving from the airport via their hotel pick up service, I was impressed with staff and how professional and enthuasiam to assist me with all enquiries and were very helpful. The room I stayed in was amazing, loved the view/balcony/bath! Even though some of the things could do with a refurb, the place is still worth every cent. 4 Nights and 5 days was not enough time there!!

"Excellent place to stay"
As other reviews mention some of the hotel's facilities might look kind of old, but we found it very comfortable and clean. the hotel has a great location, with a nice view to the river. It has big comfortable rooms. Excellent buffet breakfast. Staff is extremely nice and helpful.

"Majestic hotel set amongst green padi fields"
A wonderful place to chill and do nothing. And yet, near enough to use it as a base to visit Chiang Rai's top sights. Food at the resort is excellent and reasonably priced. Genuine northern thai style cooking with fresh ingredients sourced from vegetable garden found on the resort. They also have fresh mulberry jam/ice cream made from mulberries plucked from the garden (if in season). Another magical thing to look out for is the sight of fireflies right outside your room at night. Just switch off all the lights in the room and enjoy nature's light show. PS: Don't worry about the other reviews that mention the presence of bugs/insects. There're some, but just keep all doors and windows shut to keep them out. Had no mosquito problems during my stay.

"Unique experience"
Stayed for 3 days, 2 nights… tucked away in the mountains and rivers, different from any resorts that I have been to. With only 15 rooms, the service is purely personal and exceptional. The choices of drinks and meals are surprising in a remote location like this. The combination of activities starting from the moment of picking up from Chiang Rai airport, to boat rides, elephant rides, elephant training grounds, to sight seeing, are all like no others. The stay in a luxurious tent comparing to the stay in a normal bungalow is something of a change in a vacation, it gives me the feel of going on to a safari. Recommended… if USD3,000 per night stay is no concern!

"A peaceful retreat."
We had a lovely welcome on arrival with some thai tea whilst we checked in. We stayed in one of the suites which was very clean, spacious and well decorated. The bathroom had a spa like feel and the toiletries (shampoo, conditioner and soap) all contained in little pottery bottles were divine. We stayed for 4 nights and ate in the restaurant twice in the evening - for which there was a good choice of meals and not too expensive. We had breakfast each morning which again had a good choice and you were not limited to just choosing one item. Until the 4th night we were the only guests staying there so there wasn't much else going on at the hotel - not that that bothered us as we went out each day anyway. The pool was nice and big but it hadn't been that well maintained when we used it as the floor of the pool was slimey. We were staying slightly out of season but even so it should have been ready for use. We also had an issue one night with flying termites getting into our bathroom. We did report it and actually moved rooms but I don't think anything was done about sealing the gap in the light or roof where they were getting in as other guests were put in our room the next night! I would warn anyone with mobility issues that there are a lot of steps everywhere - long flight up to the reception, stairs up to the restaurant/bar and stairs up to the rooms - so maybe think twice about staying here if mobility is an issue.

"Riverside setting"
On first impression we were a little unsure but need not have worried. Lovely hotel, great room with spa bath & river view balcony. Modern & clean. Did not eat at the hotel so cannot comment on the evening meal. Unfortunately breakfast let the hotel down. Very limited choice, still eating breakfast outside literally on the side of the river a real bonus. If u do not want to eat at the hotel it is quite a walk from anywhere else, we walked to the food night market along by the river. Well worth it, fabulous meal & great atmosphere. We were the only English people but that didn't bother us. Made very welcome. Hotel is handy for driving to the attractions of the golden triangle. Would definitely stay here again but upgrading is probably worth it.

"relaxing hotel with on edge of river kok"
very nice hotel Pros check in was extremely easy and the hotel staff was friendly and efficient the room are large but cozy and has a rustic feel too hotel has very nice landscaping and infinity pool. there are bicycles for rent by the hotel at a reasonable price cycling around the town area is a good way to get to know the city. breakfast has a good mix of western and thai food. but the best thing is to sit by the river while eating breakfast it was so relaxing Cons the gym was a bit disappointing as it was a bit dirty and not much choice too I would recommend providing gym towels and wipe down towels for the equipment another thing i would recommend is they can provide bathtubs in the bathrooms the bath room was huge but only 1 shower. the pave stones in the garden leading to the river is uneven and one can easily trip on them (I actually tripped) we stayed 2 nights from 21 to 23 Dec 2015 We would definitely choose this hotel again if we ever get back to chiang rai

"Space and Seclusion"
Chiang Rai is a very small town that is just starting to see tourism in the form of overnight visitors. It seems that most people take a very long bus ride from nearby Chiang Mai (3 hours by bus) to quickly see the White Temple and The Golden Triangle and then drive back (3 hours) to their hotel in Chiang Mai. We wanted to extend our time in the small city and break up the drive. It was also in the middle of our 2 week trip so we thought we might want some easier days to regroup and rest without much scheduled. The Imperial River House is a great place to do this. It is one of the finer hotels in the city. The property is very large and right on the river. Spacious is the first word that comes to mind. There is a huge pool and lots of outdoor areas. While our room was gigantic it was a bit sparse. Everything was nice and clean but it certainly wasn't ostentatious or glamorous. It was what we needed and nothing more. A 4 Star hotel for a 2 Star price. Our favorite part about this hotel was the proximity to one of our favorite restaurants of the whole trip- Chivit Thamma Da. It's an adorable "coffee" house that no doubt has delicious coffee but also extraordinary food, real wine (hard to find in Thailand), delicious desert, a romantic location (on the river), and an adorable atmosphere. It's owed by a Thai local and her Dutch(?) husband. You can walk here from the hotel. It is through a random residential neighborhood, but we always felt safe in Thailand so we didn't mind it.
