Amazing amenities with two fabulous restaurants. The steakhouse is the old English consulate and provides the property with a unique charm. Terrific breakfast location along the river. Great location to town as well

We stayed over the Christmas holidays and the property was full. The staff were excellent and helpful. The property did feel a bit dated and being quite busy, it did not feel like a luxury stay especially compared to other properties we’ve stayed at in South East Asia. We would not stay here again.

Perfect luxury
The Chiang Mai Anantara offers tranquil ambience in a setting that combines historic architecture with modern design and use of local timber. Quite breathtaking. The rooms are huge, Bathrooms are luxurious. The lap pool is beautiful. Service staff are friendly and efficient. The Bodhi Terrace Restaurant serves exquisite Thai food for dinner by the river.The best we’ve had. Just two suggestions: The steep staircase to the rooftop Bubbles Bar has no handrails — a long way to fall! The Brit Bar downstairs would be more inviting if there was live music at night.

Sorry to give a knock on this property, but there’s too much construction going on. They promised us that the construction was not going to be in our zone, but we had to walk through all of the construction chaos to get to our room which was a very long walk. The floors are slippery as ice because of all the construction dust. They should have somebody mopping the floor from construction dust 24 seven but they don’t. They really should close this property while they do the kind of extensive work that they are doing. The large lobby is essentially outdoors, so you’re going to sweat unless you are in your room or the small bar. The main restaurant is also open to the outside elements. It has a cool vibe, but like because of all that’s going on, discerning travelers will not appreciate the current situation.

Service was excellent and attentive. I especially liked the way breakfast was served, with some food items on self service buffet and a good selection of food items on the ala carte menu. The only small imperfection was the noise from the ongoing renovation works during my stay which made the stay less restful and serene than desired. Nevertheless the property is a great choice for travellers to Chiang Mai and will be even more so after renovation works are done.

The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was decent. Their rooms are not noise-proof. I could hear everything from the street, kids playing downstairs. people shouting in front of the elevator. The River View room type is rather misleading. Most of their advertised river view rooms, except for the most expensive suites, only have a partial review view. We were pretty disappointed given that we specifically booked those rooms expecting to have a nice river view.

This resort is in a quiet area, and the grounds are very peaceful & welcoming... The staff were polite, friendly & helpful, especially Pi in the restaurant (great sense of humor)... We treated ourselves to an hour long special in the spa, and came out floating on air.... 'Highly recommend this chain of resorts (we had an equally fine time at the Anantara Riverside Resort in Bangkok....

Little slice of paradise in Chiang Mai
The hotel is fantastic. The service was superb. We had a riverfront suite and it was every bit as nice as you could ask for. The mosquitos were a little too friendly but that is what repellent is for! The VIP lounge is a very nice perk of included. The spa was also superb. Both restaurants were good, but the Thai is better (despite the reviews that the other is the better). We had booked with breakfast but were heading out every day before service started. We were told we could nonetheless get breakfast thru room service. We did, but it was full charge (no offset). That was a little petty for a hotel of this class. And while they ask when you prefer turn down, it’s hit or miss on time and whether we received at all. So not a 5-star it should be, but close.

Outstanding conversion of the former British consulate building and grounds. The main building is now serves as two distinct restaurants. The guest rooms are in a newer U shaped 5 storey building that surround the old consulate structure. The rooms are beautiful but if you are expecting privacy and a nice view, avoid all of the lower floors as many of these face into common areas or walls and for the international price point at this hotel, the room situations can feel out of synch.

Relaxed ambience with exceptional service
We stayed in the Kasara Garden view room and our stay from beginning to end did not disappoint. Despite the relaxed atmosphere, a lot goes in to make your stay memorable and deliveries a high quality service. We used the transfer service to pick us up from the airport after a long flight from London. Our driver was waiting for us when we landed and the car was stocked with drinks and a refreshing towel. Upon arrival to the hotel we were taken to the lounge to check-in. We drank our welcome drinks and asked to choose our room scent. Our room was styled beautifully, very large space and we had a view of the gardens. The turndown service in the evening, included our ice being topped up and an oil burner being lit in the bathroom. The staff in the hotel were super friendly and greeted me quite often by name. The breakfast had an extensive choice and we sat next to the river every morning. We made use of the free laundry service and the cocktails in the lounge in the evening (which were exceptional). Despite the very relaxed and calm atmosphere, a lot goes on behind the scenes to make your stay as comfortable as possible. I celebrated my 40th birthday here and the additional touches made my day even more special. I cannot recommend this hotel enough and thank everyone there.

Demeaning staff and property, seriously lacks respect for its customers! I had just gotten dropped off with my family at the hotel and was about to check in when we started getting profiled and interrogated by the staff. I told the staff only 3 of the party of 5 were checking in. The other party of 2 were going to wait for us at the lobby. Once they separated us the check in party and the waiting party, they interrogated the waiting party asking for passport information credit card information and where they were heading, checking and looking over the information on baggage. They had the staff surveillance on us. I had explained the other party was waiting for us to check in. I EVEN SHOWED THEM THE OTHER PARTIES CONFIRMATION CODE FOR THE OTHER HOTEL. After I had the waiting party call and tell us what was happening I decided it was best to leave this so called hotel. Not Even USA TSA does this kind of stuff. I asked to speak to the manager to get a refund. The guest relations manager, thanyarak Takhiao and general manager, Vincent, came out and only offered a sorry and a measly upgrade. THEY WOULDNT GIVE ME MY REFUND AND INSISTED I STAY AT THEIR PLACE. I decided to let my credit card company handle this since they wanted to be difficult in refunding and booked another hotel, which ended up being a way better choice in the downtown area. Have no problem in dishing out other thousands of dollars in a hotel that actually value customer service.  BEWARE MANAGER

Please kindly note that our team member was unaware at this point that your guests were only waiting for you and were just looking after your belongings,and they did not mean to cause you any offence. Your original booking through Expedia promotion in advance purchase with the term and conditions – Room Kasara Suite Breakfast include Non-Refundable for 2 adults with a kid of 10 years old. You have showed up with additional of one adult and one teenager and you cancel your booking after we checked you in. I do hope that you will return to our resort so that we can provide you with a satisfying and enjoyable stay. So Relaxing!
Wow! This place was amazing..the staff are so helpful and lovely. We stayed 4 nights, and though it rained for half of our stay, we were more than happy to lounge inside the luxury of our room. The bed was really comfortable, with electronic curtains that you can draw from your bedside table, to either keep out the morning light or two take in the view of the river. Beautiful architecture throughout the complex, and great meals/breakfasts every day. Highly recommend this hotel!
