Very comfortable stay, albeit a little crazy on race days! Excellent room service.

Comfort close to city centre

Posted 07-Jul-2017
Arrived around midnight and was able to use the underground car park without problem. Was upgraded which was a nice touch - shame I did not have time to enjoy it. Room was very spacious with a balcony towards the old military barracks. Close to a big roundabout but no noise. You can walk to Lower Bridge Street and the heart of old Chester in 3 or 4 minutes. Also bang next to the race course and river. Shall use again on future visits.

Fading gem

Posted 01-Jul-2017
I've been coming here for years for business but don't think I will be back. Room cleanliness is now poor, breakfast takes an hour and standards have dropped. Moving from fine dining on top floor to dubious gin bar has topped it off.

Ideal location

Posted 29-May-2017
Pros: Location and was clean
Cons: Mini Fridge in the rooms
Location: Racecourse walking distance
The Air Conditioning wasn't working and expected a fridge in the room for the price we paid. The reception tried to charge me for two days breakfast and two days car park when we only had one breakfast and NO car.

Perfect for a City Break !

Stayed at the Abode for a birthday treat and thoroughly enjoyed it. It is perfectly situated for exploring Chester. We will definitely return... Highly recommended!!

OK hotel with great position

Posted 24-May-2017
Pros: Clean and modern and in a great position. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Cons: Get the lifts working properly (very temperamental!) Get the fitness room set up. Have more seating in bedrooms. Clarify available parking.
Location: Superb position, virtually on the old city walls. The Miller and Carter restaurant in the same building is excellent for dinner.
The hotel is very modern and clean, but needs a good manager to sort out some outstanding niggles which I've listed under what can be improved. There's not enough hotel parking, but apparently you can use the council parking (in the same underground car park) as they have an agreement with them (better check with desk after you've parked). The fitness room wasn't set up when we were there. Only 1, flimsy seat in the bedroom - pretty poor. Try pressing the lift buttons twice to get them to work, even then you might be taken to the wrong floor.

Ideal Location

Posted 21-May-2017
Pros: Location and relatively cheap overnight parking
Cons: Bigger Full English breakfast. I'm just a hungry caterpillar!!!!!
Location: You are only a five minute walk from the heart of the city. Shopping, Museums, Grosvenor Gardens, The River, The pubs, The Walls. Romans
Chose Hotel for its location, parking facilities and that's it. It was my birthday and wedding anniversary. Man behind the desk immediately upgraded our room, which was a nice surprise.. Met up with friends/relatives in Chester and had a meal and drinks around the city. Booked breakfast for the morning, that was excellent, the cooked breakfast was a bit stingy (i.m.h.o), the service was excellent though, all the toast and tea/coffee we could handle. Had a slight query about the room cost on checkout which was sorted out immediately by the staff, again excellent.

Nice hotel.

Need to change the website to mention there is a gym onsite. Also the champagne bar was not open and this was not mentioned on booking / checkin.

The heating in my room was broken and blowing out cold air whilst making a loud noise, I asked if this could be looked at while I went out. I came back to find the air conditioning had been turned down, however nothing had actually been fixed. I ordered room service and paid in cash but was given no receipt, when I checked out I asked if I could be given a receipt so that I could put the meal on expenses. Was told that it wasn't possible at that time but they would email me. Never received an email.
