Central, luxurious, lovely staff

Posted 27-Feb-2017
Pros: central location, lovely room
Cons: including the use of Sauna in the price. I didn't use the Spa for sauna/steam room as it was going to cost £35
Pulling up at the front of the hotel for valet parking was a nice start to the trip. The staff were all friendly and attentive. The room was larger than we expected for a classic double, but not sure if we got upgraded! It was clean and the bathroom immaculate and finished nicely, as you would expect for such a hotel - no dodgy or mouldy sealant anywhere. Being in the centre of chester the hotel is perfect location wise, close to shops/bars, etc. Its only a short walk to the river. My wife and I had a lovely night away.

Best location

Posted 25-Feb-2017
Pros: Location is great.
This hotel is the best location in Chester. The Grosvenor is quite difficult to find if you haven't visited before, we have been several times now, and still tend to get lost. The hotel itself looks very grand from the entrance, both from the back and the front entrance. The room we had was a lite on the small side, probably the smallest room we have stayed in at this hotel. The complimentary tray was good, but not enough sugars and tea bags for those who enjoy more than two cups. It would be a nice touch to have some locally sourced buiscuits. The room in general was clean, but bathroom fella little short( couple of hairs in the bath) Would prefer toilet brush in bathroom, this could be very embarrassing .

Very comfortable and nicely appointed classic room tho a little on small side. Good breakfast but only continental included in room rate. Spa opened too late and closes too early. Simon Radley restaurant was superb.

Great hotel but let down by service at breakfast

Posted 08-Feb-2017
Pros: The hotel is well decorated but I think real credit goes to the friendly and professional staff. Too bad the service at breakfast was disappointing.
Cons: Possibly breakfast staff need to be more thorough. Understandably it was busy but this should not be an excuse
We were only staying for the night to eat at the restaurant, which wasn't going too well as we were slightly late for our reservation but the friendly and professional staff were very accommodating. There was a valet service, so I didn't have to worry about where to park and all our luggage was taken care of. The room was well decorated and modern although the hallways were more dated but looked after. The room was reasonably spacious with very high ceilings which made it feel more spacious than it was. We arrived late so didn't need to open the curtains but in the morning after doing so we were greeted with a lovely view of more windows and a rooftop but there was plenty of light coming through. All staff were extremely friendly. They made the stay extra special but too bad we were slightly let down at breakfast. I think we went down at a busy time (just before 10am) and had a little wait to be seated. We ended up seated outside the dining area in what I think was a bar area so the tables were quite small. We were served by 2 different people and I think this is where the confusion came. We ordered toast which never arrived and with another member of staff ordered two lots of the bakery selection but only one made it to our table. Not exactly something you would expect at rooms of this price but I wouldn't let this put you off as this could of been something overlooked as it was extremely busy.

Great hotel

Posted 08-Feb-2017
Lovely charming hotel, in the centre of Chester. Stayed overnight with my mum, we enjoyed afternoon tea was very nice I did book in advance and glad I did as it was very busy for a Monday. Rooms were very comfy, clean and quiet, we stayed in an executive suite. I did not use the spa on this occasion but will come back. Breakfast was very good and service impeccable. The hotel does have parking at the rear of the hotel into the Grosvenor Shopping Centre at a cost to hotel guests of £8.50 for 24hrs which was very reasonable for a city centre, the hotel also offers valet parking.

Beautiful hotel in picturesque Chester

Posted 06-Feb-2017
Pros: Central in Chester, walking distance to shops, restaurants, parking. Very friendly staff, knowledgeable
Location: Visit the cathedral, walk along the Chester wall, read all about the history, visit Chester Zoo or Cheshire Oaks
Took husband for Xmas present; lovely little quaint shops, old cobbled streets, Chester wall and lovely weather made for a beautiful weekend. The restaurants suggested by the hotel were equally delightful; family run one offs with a lovely menu, atmosphere and good price - food spot on!! Would highly recommend a visit to the Grosvenor Chester :)

Lovely hotel right in the heart of Chester.

Posted 02-Feb-2017
Pros: Everything
Cons: Swimming pool
Location: The hotel is very central good for shopping and local restaurants. the cathedral and river is within walking distance of the hotel.
The staff were very good. The hotel even left a card and small cake in our room as my friend had her 50th birthday whilst we were there that was a very nice touch. The door man was great very friendly and gave us directions several times when we wanted to go somewhere else like a restaurant. All the staff are friendly and the hotel is very clean.
