Great staff but avoid school holidays!

Posted 12-Apr-2017
Pros: Friendliness of staff, and service.
Cons: Breakfast at busy times - a problem at times of high occupancy.
Location: Fantastic location right in the centre of Chester.
Staff are extremely helpful and attentive. However, avoid school holiday Mondays as waiting for breakfast was like being at Disneyland Paris - had to wait 20 mins for a table, and the noise...! Also if booking a Classic Double don't expect much space in the room. The bathroom was half the size of the bedroom and there was practically no hanging space in the wardrobe. Having said that I will probably return as the location is perfect.

Excellent staff

Staff all very polite and very attentive. A/c in our room did not work, stayed 26 degrees. Had to sleep with window open for 2 nights. This could not be fixed straight away. No other room was available but we were offered a move to another hotel at 18.00 hrs on our last night, which we declined. Apart from that the food was quality.

Birthday treat

From arrival, service was very professional and welcoming. We were presented with a complimentary upgrade and the room (suite) was beautiful, stylish, spacious and immaculate with a fabulously comfortable bed and quality linens. Service throughout was excellent. Highly recommended.

THIS IS A PROPER 5* HOTEL

Posted 14-Mar-2017
Pros: EVERYTHING
Cons: NOTHING
Location: Chester has many attractions to suit every taste.
We have stayed in many nice hotels in Chester over the years. However, as this was a special visit to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary we decided to "push the boat out" and try the Grosvenor. So pleased we did, this hotel is exceptional, from the staff to the facilities to the rooms and overall cleanliness of all areas of the hotel. Nothing was too much trouble. The hotel retains the splendour of by gone days including an evening turn down service! with the needs of modern day travellers. This has definitely spoiled us and it will be difficult to return to "normal hotels". Well done and thanks for a wonderful stay.

Pros: The five star caring service. Very much enjoyed our dinner in the brasserie excellent food and service, also good to have table service for breakfast
Location: Shops and restaurants on your doorstep, had a great day at Chester Zoo also some good National Trust properties near by.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Grosvenor, the staff were pleasant and helpful from the moment we arrived and they parked the car for us to the moment we checked out.
