Shopping and relaxing in Chester

Posted 22-Aug-2015
Pros: Nice old-fashioned feel to it, but not stuffy or over-zealous.
Cons: It would be good to have tea and coffee-making facilities in the room.
Location: Some good bars and restaurants to do on foot, and many attractions within easy reach by car. Cathedral is well worth a look: falconry centre too.
Very helpful and courteous staff from arrival to leaving. Room and facilities were of a top standard.

Great location in the centre of Chester

Posted 15-Aug-2015
Disappointing. The Spa should have been complimentary but was a very expensive £35. The sauna was cool and the shower broken. Bed and breakfast was booked but one discovers in the morning that a cooked breakfast was another £9:50. Scandalous at these prices.

Fantastic hotel

Posted 12-Aug-2015
Pros: Very high standards, lovely room, fantastic customer service
Cons: nothing, everything was great.
Location: Central location easy to get around, we know the area well as we visit often.
We had a great experience at the Chester Grosvenor we stayed for my partners 30th birthday as a treat and the hotel didn't disappoint; from the moment we arrived the team couldn't do enough to help. the room was fantastic, definitely worth the price. Made to feel welcome on arrival and there are some lovely extra touches that make your stay extra comfortable. Would definitely stay stay again. We didn't get chance to try the bar or restaurant during our stay as it was only brief but we look forward to our next visit where we will hopefully get to try both.

Beautiful Hotel

Posted 06-Aug-2015
We had a lovely 2 day break. The only thing that spoiled it was being asked for a £200 deposit by the hotel. Bearing in mind the break was fully paid for in advance and this was not mentioned either when I made the booking or on my first email invoice. This was only mentioned as an aside on the itinerary email I was sent a couple of days before we went. I don't have a credit card so this really impacted on what we could do and spend while we were away. I think this puts every guest under suspicion from the start.

Early Birthday Treat

Posted 15-Jul-2015
Wonderful spotless hotel Staff Friendly and Helpful nothing to much trouble . My only small grumble was no butter on tray for toast with breakfast via room service , but with all the other delights in the tray it wasn't a major concern

Pros: It has style and elegance, reception staff were excellent.
Cons: Kitchen closing at 9pm on a Sunday is not helpful. Car park signage needed.
Location: Difficult location to find given the myriad of one-way systems. If you use a satnav, post code will take you to the rear of a warehouse - not great!!
Booked for a one night stay only but would definitely stay again. There was one downside. On returning to the Hotel bar, very hungry, at around 9.30 pm, having been at an Ordination Service since 5.30 pm. We were informed that the kitchen had closed at 9 pm. On mentioning that one of the party was diabetic and he really needed something to eat soon, we asked if there was anything that could be rustled up such as a scone, bread and butter, biscuits - anything at all. The waiter just shrugged and re-iterated that the kitchen had closed at 9 pm. Surely there must be something in the housekeeping stores such as biscuits, we replied. No effort was made on his part to satisfy our request. We then asked if he could find some crisps or buts which he did. I think that in the circumstances, and given the potential medical problems of a diabetic hypo attack, a better effort could have been made to find something from somewhere. Staff need to be alerted to the seriousness of diabetes and ideally, a supply of biscuits (say), kept in the bar for such incidences. Still not sure why the kitchen closed at 9 pm either. Seems to be very early for a first class hotel. We all remained hungry. Car parking is far from intuitive too. You need to aim for the Grosvenor Shopping Centre car park and find the hotel lift on Level 2. We couldn't, and ended up dragging our things all through the centre to the Hotel front door. Better signage in the car park is certainly needed.
