Luxury in the heart of Chester

Posted 11-Jan-2017
Booked to stay here mainly because of its location, fully expecting it to be a stereo typical town center hotel where you were just another guest. From the moment the door slid back to allow us entry from the multi storey car park it was like stepping through the wardrobe I to Narnia, we followed the signs to the reception, as we approached a porter came to greet us and take our luggage and sat us down with a receptionist who checked us in and then showed us to our room, on the way enquiring as to the reason for our stay and offering advice about our plans, the porter had already delivered our luggage and the receptionist showed us the facilities before leaving us to settle in, throughout our stay each and every member of the staff we came into contact with were very polite and eager to do anything we asked. The cleanliness and maintenance of the entire hotel is second to none. A little bit of luxury, right in the heart of Chester

Beautiful Hotel but beware the extra charges

Posted 31-Dec-2016
Pros: The rooms and location
Cons: Breakfast - Buffet style for the continental followed by traditional breakfast within cost of hotel. Or advise guests of breakfast cost at checkin.
Location: Excellent location right in centre of shops.
Beautiful Hotel in fantastic location with Staff all very attentive, but something missing. Maybe it needed a little bit more personalisation. It seemed like everything was planned/staged, not necessarily in a bad way but it gave the impression it was impersonal and the norm rather than reacting to the individual. The breakfast needs some managerial input. On the first morning I think we were expecting a choice of cereals, breads, fruits etc followed by a traditional breakfast if desired, as is standard across quality hotels of this calibre. Unfortunately there was no choice and it was delivered to your table. On both mornings we asked for more toast and on both mornings none were presented. There was a certain amount of queuing for a table which had one rather irate gentleman remonstrating with the staff in the middle of the dining room. This was not handled professionally as it was unclear who was in charge and it was disconcerting for the diners, some only feet from the action. The manager should have made herself/himself known immediately and taken the discussion to a quiet location. We didn't see this guest on the second day! All in all an enjoyable stay in a lovely hotel right in the middle of Chester but let down by the breakfast experience which we were then charged extra for on checkout. Breakfast included is not necessarily a true statement.

Wouldn't recommend

Posted 26-Dec-2016
Good location but the staff were very rude. We felt like we were not worthy of staying there. No one greeted us, they looked past us. When we checked out, the bag man barged past us to get to another person. When we came back for our bags after leaving them with the hotel, they would not let us back in to get them as they were 'closed' and we didn't look like we had stayed at the hotel. No apology for mistake either.

Beautiful Hotel

Posted 20-Dec-2016
Little hick up with two rooms having been booked in same name on arrival but very happy with 'classic' room with seating area in bedroom, which always helps when just wanting to chill out with paper rather than having to lie on bed. Beautiful decorated room with plenty of lighting round dressing area and lovely marble entrance giving plenty of hanging space for clothing. All staff were very helpful and friendly, especially door staff. Perfect little Xmas get away and hope to return next year.

5 star hotel centrally located.

Posted 15-Dec-2016
Pros: High standard for everything & ideal location.
Cons: Well it's hard to have a gripe when you've been upgraded to a suite but I'm disabled & found the bed too high, I should have informed them.
Location: Centrally located for the shops, close to the cathedral & the city walls walk. It's a 20 minute drive to Cheshire Oaks which is fantastic.
I stayed here with my husband as a treat for our Ruby anniversary. We were upgraded to a suite which was lovely. The bed was huge but very high, I'm only little. The reception staff are very friendly & helpful as were the staff in La Brassiere. The room was clean as is the whole hotel. Perfect location too.

The Grosvenor Chester.

Posted 13-Dec-2016
Pros: Situated in the centre of Chester.
Cons: Nothing.
Location: Located in the centre of Chester, all the big name shops are literally outside the main doors
The hotel is situated in the centre of town. The main shopping area is literally outside the main doors. The staff at the hotel were first class, could not do enough for you. The rooms are better equipped than most hotels and the decoration were tastefull. I particularly liked the sound system (Bose) amazing sound from it. The bed was a queen size and very comfortable. If you like being pampered, this is the place to spend a few nights at.

Amazing Stay

Posted 07-Dec-2016
Pros: Excellent Location, great staff. Wonderful experience.
Cons: I could not criticise anything.
Location: Right in the centre of Chester. Shops and restaurant just outside the door.
Booked this hotel last minute and from the moment we pulled up outside the doors to the minute we left we were made to feel special by the hotel staff. Absolutely fabulous. Nothing was too much trouble. The continental breakfast which was included in the price was enjoyed in wonderfully decadent surroundings. I would recommend this hotel wholeheartedly and would like to thank all the staff for a wonderful time. The location of the hotel was right in the centre. Could not have asked for anything else.
