Good location. In the City centre, excellent.

Athough the Hotel was very nice, we had a interupted nights sleep Due to the nightclub below the Hotel playing loud music until 4. 00 in the morning. Felt we should have been warned about this or put in another room.

This is a lovely hotel, just a few small problems.

Posted 30-Nov-2016
Our room and bathroom were clean and the décor was nice, but the radiator in our room was on full and wouldn't turn down as the knob had come off, we had to have the window open the entire time to let fresh air in. The breakfast let our stay down, no dishes on the cereals & fruit counter, also no glasses and hardly any fruit juice (they did turn up after a request/wait...) no available tables were set for breakfast, one was quickly half set up for us but was missing napkins & cups which we had to chase up with the waitress. Although the cooked breakfast could not be faulted.

Cons: More modern and larger room
Great location very central. Close to city walls and the rows.

Charming old hotel!

Posted 05-Oct-2016
Pros: Beautifully remodeled building with character and charm! Staff is very friendly.
Cons: Being an old building, the bathroom doors are quite small, and wood beneath the carpeted floors can be creaky. Don't bother with the restaurant
Location: Great location close to shops, restaurants, Roman ruins, and city walls are easy to wander from here.

Poor

Posted 04-Sep-2016
Room was tiny, roasting hot with a poor fan. Tv dated. Music going on till 3/4 am on Friday and Saturday in near by bar. No mention when checking in. Was more like fawlty towers then a 4 star hotels. How they got that rating is beyond me, maybe the restaurant food is good but obviously not that good as it was dead all weekend

central close to everything

Posted 30-Aug-2016
Pros: close to everything,
Cons: a nice relaxing bar would have been nice.
excellent hotel to use as a base, don't use any of its limited expensive facilities ( e.g. Breakfast £12.50 each ) as there is plenty of cheaper quality options right on your doorstep,

Weekend at the races, shame about the hotel

Posted 22-Aug-2016 on Hotels
Poor hotel. Dated, cramped rooms. Furniture and bathroom needed major overhaul. Expensive breakfast but not very nicely cooked. Waiter service but food served cold and stuck to plate as if sat for a long time. Noisy hotel. Nightclub underneath. Lots banging and shouting. We paid £400 for a 2 night stay with breakfast. Stayed in far more superior rooms for less. Definitely not worth the money. Place needs a complete revamp. Such a shame as in good location for shops, races etc.

Noisy breakfast

Posted 22-Aug-2016 on Hotels
Mostly fine - except for one jarring feature, which was that the breakfast room at 8am on Sunday had blaring television coverage of some football match or other - so one couldn't escape the incessant noise of the shouty, louty commentator. Why does a 4* hotel think its guests will want this on a Sunday morning, rather than a nice quiet breakfast? - not a single guest was watching it.

Better places to stay in Chester.

Posted 13-Aug-2016 on Hotels
Disappointing overall. The rooms were very basic for the price and the service across the whole hotel was poor. The toom opposite ours decided to have a party late into the night and the night staff did little to help. If it hadn't been for ear plugs, then we would not have got any sleep at all! Food in the restaurant was below par and the staff seemed more interested in chatting at the bar than waiting the two tables that had guests. Check out was abysmal as one member of staff told us we couldn't have the Chester zoo discounts as we were too late. Only after leaving the hotel and returning for a taxi did another member of staff tell us he was wrong and processed the discount ticket. No apologies were given.
