handy town centre hotel for short stay

Posted 11-Feb-2016
Pros: central location
Cons: downstairs reception is a bit hidden away
Location: nice high street to explore, close to Cathedral which is v. impressive
Room very clean, recently refurbished. Small, as this is an older building, but lots of cupboard space, spare towels etc. Restaurant and bar good, food promptly delivered and tasty. Breakfast pricey but then all hotels do this so one shouldn't be surprised.

Great location

Posted 08-Feb-2016
Pros: Lovely big room and good atmosphere.
Cons: Shut the night club.
Location: Plenty shops restaurants and pubs can't go wrong.
We stayed on a Saturday night our room was a good size and very clean. We were offered breakfast at a reduced rate of £25, should have bee £35 which I think is very expensive for two people. Staff were very friendly and the location very central, with multi storey around the corner for £10 a day. When we arrived we just dropped our bags and went straight out. We arrived back at the hotel around 12.30 am to find out that there was a night club next door, and the front of hotel people were stood smoking and shouting. It was very unpleasant to see and worried that all the noise would keep us awake. We decided to go into the hotel bar and thoroughly enjoyed a cocktail and a good chat with folk. We went to bed around 1.30am and from our room 313 you could here the noise outside but it wasn't as bad as expected. We soon nodded off and had a very comfortable nights sleep. The night club doesn't belong to the hotel, and it's a shame really because if you are on first or second floor you would be disturbed badly. To sum up its a lovely hotel with good staff in a good location just make sure you get a room on top floor.

Very Very disappointing - go somewhere else

Posted 03-Feb-2016 on Hotels
Tiny outdated room with small bed, other room we booked couldnt see tv from bed, tea and coffee making facilities in wardrobe so you cant hang clothes, average breakfast, cocktails from the bar very poor, served in what looked like jam jars, very expensive for the service, decor, rooms and some staff which im sure are robots. wont be staying again unless the rooms are less than £50. very disappointed. Night club accross the street with hundreds of people roaming around till all hours, we had to move rooms given the noise from another room in the hotel

It was ok I suppose...

The bathroom was so small. It was very difficult to get in as the glass shower screen was against the door when open. There appeared to be a nightclub below and empty bottles were being moved outside at 4am disturbing our sleep. Stains on carpet but otherwise room was tidy and clean. I'm not sure where they invent the prices for breakfast. £17.50 each. £35 for the couple. Nah, I don't think so 200 metres up the road to the 'spoons and full English for me, eggs benedict for her, swilled down with a nice pint of Guinness and a coffee for £11.50 thank you very much. Would I go back? Nope. Would I recommend? Not really...

Hotel was great

Posted 02-Feb-2016 on Hotels
Hotel was great - reception was particularly friendly (and gave a discount on city centre parking) however the bar staff couldn't make a shandy because they had NO bitter and when we did get an alternative drink it was horribly expensive - luckily plenty of other places to drink nearby.

Central et cosy

Posted 30-Jan-2016 on Hotels

Terrible! So noisy. The hotel staff did move us to another room but it was still really noisy.
