A hidden gem in Wrexham

Posted 22-Jan-2017
We stayed as a family of 3 on a Friday night. Hotel staff were pleasant on arrival and gave instructions to get to our room. It is fair to say the hotel is very igglety pigglety and instructions involved up, down, around and back on yourself to get the room. It also happened to be the furthest room away in the world, and with a tired 3 year old it wasn't the greatest. Once in the room we found they had prepared the bed for our little one and though dated, the room itself was fine. My only small issue would be that they only provided cups and biscuits for 2 though there were 3 of us. The bathroom was large in size but had seen better days. The window sill obviously hadn't been cleaned in some time and the blind was broken. The rest was absolutely fine. We didn't eat at hotel restaurant and drove into Wrexham which has amazing shopping and eateries. Breakfast was £15 per head at hotel and we couldn't warrant an extra £45 for 3 of us. We would defiantly stay at the hotel again and I know there are planned room upgrades so that will add some extra luxury to a hotel, that in all honesty, was a pleasant change from the usual 'high street' priced places.

Not the best around

Posted 22-Dec-2016 on Hotels
The room was tired, the pillows were very uncomfortable and the bathroom was very old fashioned. The shower is possible the worst I have seen in any hotel I have stayed in, very difficult to get a temperature that was not boiling or freezing, and whilst it was powerful it had a very narrow spray resulting in it being very uncomftable.

Lovely hotel, clean and comfortable. Indoor pool was perfect for us as a family, staff pleasant and helpful, breakfast large variety and tasty. 5 minute drive into centre so perfect location. Would highly recommend and will be staying there again.

Ladies and the ladybirds

Posted 27-Nov-2016
Pros: Looks very impressive on arrival. Staff were welcoming and polite. The receptionist was very good at dealing with our issues. Breakfast was lovely.
Cons: Booking process - there was obviously a failure in preparing for our booking which had a knock on effect as the alternative was not ready for guests
Location: Quiet and rural. Cheshire Oaks designer village nearby and of course Chester with the Christmas Market at this time of year.
Booked an overnight stay in this hotel for a break for my mother, myself and my daughter so we could have a bit of girly time together. Impressive exterior and entrance and very polite receptionist. Our booking was made for two adults and a child, but on arrival at the room, the third bed was missing. We were offered a z bed in the room but the booking did specify a sofa bed so i requested that.We were offered an alternative room with sofa bed which needed to be made up. Whilst waiting we went to the spa. The spa receptionist was welcoming, the pool was small but a good temperature and there was a small sauna. No jacuzzi which was a little disappointing.£1 returnable deposit on the lockers. The changing rooms were small and rather tired but clean.Arriving back at the room the sofa bed hadn't yet been made up.We decided against eating on the premises as there was an evening event on and it was quite busy.Whilst getting ready to go out we noticed a couple of ladybirds and then a whole nest of them in the corner of the room. And then more in the other corners and around the window frames. YUK!Another visit to the reception but this time we were out of luck..no more rooms with sofa beds. The receptionist personally came up with hoover to vacuum the bugs away and to make up the bed.We went out and left her to it. When we returned, there were still some of the little blighters above the wardrobe and around the window and but we drew the curtains and tried not to think about them.

Decent hotel with some good and some awful artwork

Posted 09-Nov-2016 on Hotels
Hotel was selected for its proximity to where we needed to be and because Best Western hotels tend to be of a known standard and quality whilst not being uniform.

Gorgeous Surroundings

Posted 20-Aug-2016
Cons: Water pressure in the showers - not ideal when you have long thick hair to wash and rince
Gorgeous Hotel - Ideal Surroundings - Breakfast and Evening Meal was very nice. Friendly & helpful staff. Easy Check In and out
