"Lovely hotel 45 min walk from Chester."
I stayed in a twin room which was comfortable. It had everything that you need for an overnight stay. I cannot comment on the bars or restaurants because I did not use them however, I did use the swimming pool, jacuzzi and the sauna. The changing rooms were pretty basic; a few shower cubicles, toilets and benches or cubicles to change in but you needed a padlock (which I didn't have) for the lockers. The jacuzzi had sand in the bottom but it was awkward with the botton on the wall to start it. The sauna was very small, holds 4 or 5 people at a push but the steam room was out of order. It was handy for me to be able to leave my luggage there for the day once I had booked out of my room so that I could walk to the nearby university which was a 30 minute walk. I would recommend this hotel and I would definitely stay again. Thank you.

"An excellent, great value, relaxing night away."
We arrived early but we were able to check in. We were given a lovely room overlooking the garden and golf course. We made use of the pool and spa area on both days - a very relaxing, enjoyable experience. We had a fabulous meal in the Vines restaurant in the evening and a full choice breakfast in the Redmond Restaurant the following morning. First class from start to finish. Will definitely be going back.

"Very pleasant"
very nice comfortable hotel - extremely quiet! Lovely. Staff were really helpful. Rooms could do with a little more attention to detail - some of the lights were not working and the bath plug mechanism was out of order so impossible to remove after bathing. Mobile reception and Wi-Fi were shocking - could be a good or a bad thing!!

"Luxurious relaxation"
Edgar House is a true find standing on the river Dee. The owners attention to detail and passion for what they do mean that they have thought of everything, throw in pleasant, engaged staff and fine dining and you have the perfection that Edgar House strives for and in my opinion achieves. I personally can't wait to go back.

"Just right for our family occasion"
The hotel was just what we needed for a family group of 25 for 2 days. The rooms were good and clean and excellent value and the space on the ground floor just what we needed to spend time together.

Pocket Guide: Adventure Sport Hotels in Cheshire

Chester in northwest England has a very varied landscape of pastureland, winding river valleys and hills that rise towards the North Welsh Hills in the south and the Peak District to the east. This is a landscape ideally suited to a wide range of sporting and outdoor activities. Visitors come here throughout the year to play golf on courses at Chester, Crewe and other locations. Boating is popular on the Irish Sea coastline and walking holidays very much in vogue, so when you stay at a Cheshire adventure sport hotel you'll have plenty of things to keep you occupied.

Outdoor Excitement with Cheshire Adventure Sport Hotels

From the Southern Pennines to the Welsh Hills, Cheshire's landscape can be rugged towards its borders but levels out in the interior, creating a wealth of sporting opportunities. Based at a Cheshire adventure sports hotel you can use the county's excellent road network to get between venues, and your hotel itself will be close to local outdoor attractions and have all the information you need. Whether you plan to go rambling in Delamere Forest or take the kids to Gulliver's World Theme Park, it's all there on your doorstep.

Cheshire Adventure Sport hotels such as Grosvenor Pulford Hotel & Spa in Chester or Mottram Hall in Macclesfield have all the facilities and services you require to enjoy outdoor activities and sports in their areas. The Macdonald Portal Hotel, Golf and Spa in Tarporley for example has beautiful grounds as well as spa and sauna facilities and an indoor pool. Whether you're into tennis, golf or swimming, staying at a venue like this on your Cheshire break will be just the thing.

Cheshire Adventure Sport Hotels for Walking and Rambling

The Cheshire landscapes around Tilston and Malpas in the south merge with the North Wales Hills and make perfect bases for exploring more of this exciting and diverse region. Much of the land has a network of pathways especially designed to meet the needs of walkers and ramblers, and there are plenty of villages and hamlets to stop off at along the way for refreshments.
